| heal.abstract | Ο όρος «αίσθηση του τόπου» (sense of place) αναφέρεται «στις νοοτροπίες και τα συναισθήματα των ατόμων και των ομάδων σε σχέση με τις γεωγραφικές περιοχές που ζουν», ή με άλλα λόγια, στις «βαθιές, προσωπικές και συναισθηματικές σχέσεις μεταξύ εαυτού και τόπου», (Wylie, 2009). Χαρακτηρίζοντας τον εκθεσιακό πολυχώρο ως κοινωνικό χώρο, βρίσκουμε συχνά παραδείγματα οπου τα κτήρια ενσωματώνονται με τους δημόσιους χώρους. Στα πλαίσια της παρούσας διπλωματικής εργασίας βασική σχεδιαστική πρόκληση είναι το να μετατραπεί ένα βαρύ και εσωστρεφές κτήριο στάθμευσης σε ένα ανοιχτό, ελκυστικό αστικό τοπόσημο. Η μετατροπή ενός χώρου που σχεδιάστηκε αποκλειστικά για αυτοκίνητα σε Κέντρο Πολιτισμού και Εκθεσιακό Πολυχώρο δημιουργεί μια μοναδική χωρική συνθήκη : τη μετάβαση από την κίνηση των οχημάτων στην κίνηση των ανθρώπων και της τέχνης. Δημιουργούνται χώροι οι οποίοι θα φιλοξενούν τέχνη, πολιτισμό, έκφραση και σκέψεις καλλιτεχνών, σε ένα κομβικό σημείο της πόλης του Βόλου, δημιουργώντας ένα άνοιγμα προς τη θάλασσα και το Πανεπιστήμιο, αλλά συγχρόνως και μια πύλη εισόδου προς το εμπορικό κέντρο. Δημιουργείται ένα δομικό πλέγμα το οποίο λειτουργεί σαν ένα γιγαντιαίο «κάδρο» (urban frame), μέσα από το οποίο οι περαστικοί βλέπουν τη ζωή, την κίνηση των επισκεπτών στις ράμπες, τα έργα τέχνης και τα κρεμαστά φυτά στο εσωτερικό. Ο δημόσιος χώρος του μεταμορφωμένου κτηρίου ο οποίος δίνει ευρύτητα και προσβασιμότητα στον κόσμο, μπορεί να βοηθήσει στην ανάπτυξη συζητήσεων. Οι επισκέπτες θα μπορούν να συμμετέχουν σε διαδραστικές καλλιτεχνικές δημιουργίες, κινούμενοι ακολουθώντας τις υπάρχουσες διαμορφωμένες ράμπες με έργα τέχνης, περνώντας από την ανοιχτή πλατεία του ισογείου, την κεντρική αίθουσα εκθέσεων και φτάνοντας μέχρι το δώμα οπου μπορούν να παρακολουθήσουν μια παράσταση, έχοντας θέα στη θάλασσα και την παραλία του Βόλου. Προτείνεται η αλλαγή χρήσης του υφιστάμενου πολυόροφου κτηρίου πάρκινγκ της οδού Φιλελλήνων στο κέντρο του Βόλου, σε Εκθεσιακό Πολυχώρο, με στόχο να δοθεί στην πόλη και κυρίως στους νέους κατοίκους της ένας χώρος στάσης για στροφή και ενδιαφέρον προς την τέχνη, τον πολιτισμό μέσα από μια καθημερινή κοινωνική συνάντηση. | el |
| heal.abstract | The term “sense of place” refers to “the attitudes and feelings of individuals and groups in relation to the geographical areas in which they live”, or, in other words, to the “deep, personal and emotional relationships between self and place” (Wylie, 2009). By understanding the exhibition complex as a social space, we frequently encounter examples in which buildings are integrated with public spaces. Within the framework of this diploma thesis, the primary design challenge is the transformation of a heavy and introverted parking structure into an open and inviting urban landmark. Converting a space originally designed exclusively for cars into a Contemporary Art and Cultural Space creates a unique spatial condition: a transition from the movement of vehicles to the movement of people and art. The proposal introduces spaces intended to accommodate art, culture, expression and artistic thought at a key location within the city of Volos, creating an opening towards the sea and the University, while simultaneously forming a gateway to the city’s commercial centre. A structural grid is introduced, functioning as a large-scale “urban frame” through which passers-by can observe everyday life, the movement of visitors along the ramps, artworks, and hanging vegetation within the building. The public space created through the transformation of the existing structure provides a sense of openness and accessibility, encouraging social interaction and exchange. Visitors are invited to participate in interactive artistic experiences as they move along the existing ramps, which become exhibition routes displaying works of art. Their journey extends from the open plaza at ground level, through the main exhibition hall, and up to the rooftop, where performances can take place against the backdrop of the sea and the waterfront of Volos. The proposed adaptive reuse of the existing multi-storey car park on Filellinon Street, in the centre of Volos, into a Contemporary Art and Cultural Space aims to provide the city and particularly its younger residents with a place to pause, engage with, and develop an interest in art and culture through everyday social encounters. | en |
