Human papillomavirus (HPV) infection is one of the most common sexually transmitted infections worldwide and is strongly associated with the development of cervical cancer, as well as other malignancies. The present study aims to investigate the level of knowledge, attitudes, perceptions, and vaccination intention among adults of the general population in Greece regarding the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) and the vaccine against it. The study will be conducted using a quantitative research approach through the use of an anonymous structured questionnaire, which will be distributed to adult individuals from the general population. In particular, HPV vaccines have been shown to significantly reduce infections caused by high-risk HPV types, as well as precancerous lesions, thereby contributing to a long-term decrease in cervical cancer cases. Moreover, the implementation of national vaccination programs has led to the development of herd immunity, enhancing protection across the general population. Despite the proven effectiveness of HPV vaccination, several barriers to widespread vaccine uptake remain, including limited public awareness, concerns regarding vaccine safety, and sociocultural factors. Addressing these challenges requires improved health communication strategies and the integration of vaccination programs with organized screening initiatives. Such combined preventive approaches are essential for achieving the global goal of eliminating cervical cancer as a public health problem. In conclusion, the HPV vaccine represents a highly effective preventive tool with a significant impact on reducing HPV-related morbidity and mortality. Strengthening vaccination coverage and public health policies is crucial for improving global health outcomes and advancing efforts toward the elimination of cervical cancer.en
