heal.abstractΗ παρούσα ερευνητική εργασία, αποτελεί προσωπικό προϊόν μελέτης που πραγματοποιήθηκε κατά την διάρκεια του μεταπτυχιακού προγράμματος του τμήματος Βυζαντινών Σπουδών του Πανεπιστημίου Ιωαννίνων και αφορά την ιστορική και αρχαιολογική προσέγγιση του παρεκκλησίου των Ταξιαρχών της Δράμας και της αυτοκράτειρας Ειρήνης της Μομφερατικής, συζύγου του αυτοκράτορα Ανδρονίκου Β΄ Παλαιολόγου και πιθανολογούμενης κτητόρισσας του αναγραφόμενου παρεκκλησίου. Μέσα από αυτήν δίνεται το κατάλληλο ιστορικό πλαίσιο που αφορά την περιοχή της Δράμας αλλά και το πρόσωπο της αυτοκράτειρας Ειρήνης της Μομφερρατικής, ενώ παράλληλα γίνεται ενδελεχής εξέταση του παλαιολόγειου ναού των Ταξιαρχών της Δράμας, η ανοικοδόμηση του οποίου, συμπίπτει με τη χρονική διάρκεια της παραμονής της Ειρήνης στην Δράμα. Μέσα από την έρευνα αυτήν, τεκμηριώθηκε καταλλήλως η παρουσία της αυτοκράτειρας στην πόλη, αλλά και η σχέση που είχε η ίδια με το παρεκκλήσι των Ταξιαρχών, στο οποίο πιθανολογείται πως τάφηκε αμέσως μετά τον θάνατό της.el
heal.abstractThis research work is a personal product of a study carried out during the postgraduate program of the Department of Byzantine Studies of the University of Ioannina and concerns the historical and archaeological approach to the church of Taxiarches of Drama and Empress Irene of Montferrat, Wife of Emperor Andronikos II Palaiologos and presumed founder of the mentioned church. Through this, the appropriate historical context is given regarding the area of ​​Drama as well as the person of the empress Irene of Montferrat, while at the same time a thorough examination is made of the palaiologan temple of Taxiarches of Drama, the reconstruction of which coincides with the duration of the stay of Irene in Drama. Through this research, the presence of the empress in the city was properly documented, as well as the relationship she had with the church of Taxiarches, in which she was probably buried immediately after her death.en
