| heal.abstract | Η διπλωματική εργασία αφορά τον σχεδιασμό ενός νέου δημόσιου χώρου έκθεσης της παραγωγής του κρέατος, με σκοπό την διερεύνηση και τον επαναπροσδιορισμό της σχέσης ανθρώπου και ζώου, στο χώρο τον παλιών Δημοτικών Σφαγείων Αθηνών. Η σχέση του ανθρώπου και του ζώου φαίνεται να έχει αποκτήσει πολλές, διαφορετικές και συχνά αντιθετικές εκφάνσεις, από την εποχή που η σφαγή του δεύτερου είχε συμβολική και κεντρική σημασία για τον πρώτο. Σήμερα, η μαζική σφαγή ζώων για την κάλυψη των όλο αυξανόμενων διατροφικών αναγκών, πραγματοποιείται σε χώρους απομακρυσμένους από την πόλη και το δημόσιο βλέμμα. Επιπλέον, τα διάφορα διατροφικά κινήματα των τελευταίων δεκαετιών φέρνουν στο επίκεντρο της συζήτησης τα πολλαπλά ηθικά και περιβαλλοντικά ζητήματα που σχετίζονται με την σφαγή ζώων και την κατανάλωση της σάρκας τους. Σε έναν τέτοιο κόσμο, όπου η κατανάλωση κρέατος γίνεται ολό και περισσότερο κατακριτέα, και ως απάντηση στα παραπάνω ζητήματα, η επιστήμη έρχεται να αναδείξει έναν νέο, πολλά υποσχόμενο τρόπο εναλλακτικής παραγωγής κρέατος. Το νέο, τεχνολογικό κρέας που αποτελεί πιστή αναπαράσταση του προκατόχου του, παράγεται από ζώα, χωρίς όμως να τα σκοτώνει. Έχοντας, όμως, εξασφαλίσει ηθικό, γρήγορο κρέας, κάτι συνεχίζει να λείπει. Όσο το κρέας παράγεται και προετοιμάζεται σε generic χώρους μακριά από τα αστικά κέντρα, τα μέρη μιας τελετουργίας που ήταν λιγότερο ή περισσότερο γνωστά στους πολίτες, χάνονται όλο και περισσότερο. Έτσι, προκύπτει η ανάγκη δημιουργίας ενός χώρου στον αστικό ιστό που, διαστέλλοντας τον χρόνο ανάμεσα στα στάδια της νέας διαδικασίας παραγωγής, έχει ως στόχο την επαναφορά της τελετουργίας. Αυτό, σε συνδιασμό με τη λειτουργία ενός εκθεσιακού χώρου, στοχεύει στην έκθεση του κρέατος, δηλαδή, τόσο στην παρουσίασή του μέσα στην πόλη, όσο και στον ορισμό του ως έκθετο, ανοικτό σε ερμηνεία και νέες συνδέσεις που θα τροφοδοτίσουν την μελλοντική εικόνα της σάρκας. Όλα αυτά, συμβαίνουν στον TABΡΟ, στο χώρο τον παλιών Δημοτικών Σφαγείων Αθηνών. Πλέον, το εως τώρα εγκαταλελειμμένο οικόπεδο της οδού Πειραιώς, αποτελεί ξανά δημόσιο αγαθό, σίγουρα υπερτοπικού ενδιαφέροντος, αλλά και τοπικού, διαθέτωντας τον εαυτό του πίσω στο ενδιαφέρον της κοινότητας του Ταύρου. | el |
| heal.abstract | This design thesis deals with the design of a new public space for exposing of meat production, in order to explore and redefine the relationship between man and animal, in the space of the old Municipal Slaughterhouses of Athens. The relationship between man and animal seems to have acquired many different and often contradictory manifestations, since the time when the slaughter of the latter had a symbolic and central meaning for the former. Today, the mass slaughter of animals to meet the ever-increasing nutritional needs takes place in places far from the city and the public eye. In addition, the various food movements of the last decades have brought multiple ethical and environmental issues related to the slaughter of animals and the consumption of their flesh to the forefront of the debate. In a world, where meat consumption is becoming increasingly reprehensible, and in response to the above issues, science is coming up with a new, promising way to produce meat. The new, technological meat, which is a true reproduction of its predecessor, is produced from animals without killing them. But even after having secured ethical, fast meat, something is still missing. As meat is produced and prepared in generic spaces far from urban centres, the parts of a ritual that were more or less familiar to citizens are increasingly lost. Thus, the need arises to create a space in the urban fabric that, by expanding the time between the stages of the new production process, aims to restore ritual. This, combined with the function of an exhibition space, aims to expose meat, that is, both to present it in the city and to define it as an exposed artifact, open to interpretation and new connections that will feed the future image of flesh. All this is happening at TABROS, in the old Municipal Slaughterhouses of Athens. Now, the abandoned plot of land on Pireos Street is once again a public asset, certainly of hyper-local interest, and at the same time local, placing itself back in the interest of the Tavros community. | en |
