heal.abstractΗ σχολική αυλή αποτελεί έναν τόπο κοινών εμπειριών για τα περισσότερα άτομα της κοινωνίας, βιώνοντάς τον κατά την ανάπτυξή τους, από την παιδικότητα προς την ενηλικίωση. Αυτός ο χώρος δεν απευθύνεται στο κοινωνικό σύνολο αλλά η χρήση του περιορίζεται στους μαθητές του κάθε σχολείου, αποκλειστικά τις ώρες λειτουργίας του. Ιστορικά, στην εκπαιδευτική θεωρία εντοπίζονται θέσεις που τονίζουν την σημασία του υπαίθριο χώρου και των κοινωνικών σχέσεων κατά την εκπαίδευση και την ανάπτυξη του παιδιού. Παράλληλα, στα σύγχρονα πυκνοδομημένα αστικά κέντρα τα δεδομένα που προσδιορίζουν την ισότιμη πρόσβαση κατοίκων σε υπαίθριους δημόσιους χώρους παρουσιάζονται ως χαμηλά. Αφορμή για προβληματισμό στάθηκε το παράδειγμα του προμράμματος “Schoolyards to playgrounds” της πόλης της Νέας Υόρκης, μέσω του οποίου προκύπτουν ιδέες, προβληματισμοί, τρόποι εφαρμογής και εργασίας σχετικά με τη μετατροπή σχολικών αυλών σε δημόσιους χώρους γειτονιάς. Προσεγγίζοντας το ελληνικό σχολείο, προσδιορίζονται πιθανές τυπολογίες σχολικών αυλών μέσω της μελέτης τεσσάρων σχολικών συγκροτημάτων στο κέντρο της Θεσσαλονίκης. Η παρούσα εργασία επιχειρεί την διερεύνηση της σχολικής αυλής ως ενεργό δημόσιο χώρο στον αστικό ιστό, καλλιεργώντας σχέσεις, αναβαθμίζοντας το βιοτικό επίπεδο των κατοίκων και εμπλουτίζοντας τις εμπειρίες και τις γνώσεις των μαθητών.el
heal.abstractThe schoolyard is a place of shared experiences for most people in so ciety, which form during their development from childhood to adulthood. This space is not intended for the community, but its use is limited to the students at each school, exclusively during its opening hours. Historically, educational theory has identified perspectives that highlight the significance of outdoor spaces and social relationships in the education and development of children. At the same time, in modern densely populated urban centers, the data indicating residents’ equal access to public open spaces are reported as limited. The ‘Schoolyards to Playgrounds’ project in New York City serves as a starting point for reflecting on ideas, approaches, and methods to transform schoolyards into public neighborhood spaces. When examining Greek schools, potential typologies of schoolyards are identified based on a case study of four school complexes in the center of Thessaloniki. This paper aims to explore the transformation of schoolyards into public spaces for the community, fostering relationships, improving residents’ living standards, and enriching the experiences and knowledge of students.en
