heal.abstractΗ παρούσα εργασία εξετάζει τις θέσεις του Danto για την ιστορική αφήγηση και τη σχέση της με την εξήγηση των γεγονότων του παρελθόντος στα οποία αναφέρεται. Μεθοδολογικά ακολουθείται η εσωτερική ανασυγκρότηση των επιχειρημάτων του Danto υπό την ανασκόπηση της σχετικής με το έργο του βιβλιογραφίας. Ειδικότερα, εξετάζεται η άποψη του Danto για την αφήγηση ως ενιαία οργανωτική δομή, η οποία καθεαυτή αποτελεί εξήγηση των γεγονότων του παρελθόντος που περιγράφει, καθώς και οι όροι, υπό τους οποίους ο Danto προάγει το σχήμα των αφηγηματικών προτάσεων ως χαρακτηριστικό του τρόπου αναπαράστασης της ιστορικής πραγματικότητας από τον ιστορικό. Η εργασία θέτει υπό αμφισβήτηση την ταύτιση που πραγματοποιεί ο Danto μεταξύ αφηγηματικής δομής και αιτιακής εξήγησης, διότι η εν λόγω ταύτιση είναι δυνατό να οδηγεί σε ιστορικά συμπεράσματα που προκύπτουν από αιτιακές συνδέσεις μεταξύ γεγονότων, οι οποίες είναι ψευδείς.el
heal.abstractThis paper examines Danto’s thesis on historical narrative and its relation to the explanation of the past events to which it refers. Methodologically, the paper follows an internal reconstruction of Danto’s arguments under a review of the literature relevant to his work. In particular, it examines Danto’s view of narrative as a unified organizational structure, which in itself constitutes an explanation of the past events it describes, and the terms in which Danto promotes the shape of narrative sentences as a characteristic of the historian’s mode of representing historical reality. The paper questions the identification Danto makes between narrative structure and causal explanation, because such identification may lead to historical conclusions that result from causal connections between events that are false.en
