Using an analytic model we show that the predictions of the cosmic string model for the peculiar velocities and the microwave background (MBR) anisotropy depend on the same combination of string evolution parameters (called $\alpha$). Normalizing $\alpha$ from the COBE detection of MBR anisotropy we show that the magnitude of the predicted velocity flows and the Cosmic Mach Number are consistent with observations on scales $5h~{-1}$Mpc to $20h~{-1}$Mpc. However, on scales $\simeq 60h~{-1}$Mpc the predicted velocities are smaller by a factor of about 4 than that suggested by observations.en
