Proposes the introduction of information technology (IT) in preschool education through a user-friendly, interactive, multimedia and hypermedia presentation. The computer environment is developed considering the child's position in a technologically developing society, the kindergarten as a place of transition from family to school, the special features of children aged 4.5 5.5 yrs, and the possibilities and speculations of IT in preschool education. With IT and the models built with it, children learn about a subject using metaphors to show things as they function. At the same time, children feel that all these are representations of the real world. They can transfer the knowledge they find into reality, and they can distinguish the imaginary from the real world. A safe environment is required so that children can experiment in order to understand abstract concepts and ideasen
