| heal.abstract | Η παρούσα εργασία εξετάζει το ζήτημα του ελληνικού δημόσιου χρέους. Αφού παρέχουμε μια ιστορική συζήτηση, δείχνουμε ότι η λιτότητα των τελευταίων έξι ετών απέτυχε στη σταθεροποίηση του χρέους, ενώ, ταυτόχρονα, έχει επιβαρύνει σημαντικά την οικονομία και την κοινωνία. Η πρόσφατη εμπειρία δείχνει ότι το δημόσιο χρέος δεν είναι βιώσιμο και ως εκ τούτου απαιτείται αναδιάρθρωση. Η επιμονή στις τρέχουσες πολιτικές δεν δικαιολογείται ούτε για ρεαλιστικό ή για ηθικό ή για άλλους λόγους. Η εμπειρία της Γερμανίας κατά την πρώιμη περίοδο μετά τον Β 'Παγκόσμιο Πόλεμο παρέχει μερικές χρήσιμες συμβουλές για την πορεία προς τα εμπρός. Η λύση στο πρόβλημα του δημόσιου χρέους είναι απαραίτητη αλλά όχι επαρκής προϋπόθεση για την επίλυση της ελληνικής και ευρωπαϊκής κρίσης. Μια ευρύτερη ατζέντα που ασχολείται με τις δυστυχίες της ελληνικής οικονομίας και τις διαρθρωτικές ανισορροπίες της ευρωζώνης είναι ζωτικής σημασίας. | el |
| heal.abstract | This paper examines the issue of Greek public debt. Given a historical debate, we show that the austerity of the last six years has failed to stabilize debt, while at the same time putting a significant strain on the economy and society. Recent experience shows that public debt is unsustainable and therefore restructuring is needed. Persistence in current policies is not justified either for realistic or for moral or other reasons. Germany's experience in the early post-World War II period provides some useful tips for moving forward. The solution to the problem of public debt is necessary but not a sufficient condition for the resolution of the Greek and European crisis. A broader agenda dealing with the plight of the Greek economy and the structural imbalances of the eurozone is vital. | en |
