| heal.abstract | The present work addresses the procedure of brain aging during the life span, and specifically focuses on the deterioration and decline of language systems. Initially, a general reference is made to the important role of the brain, while it’s been explained the process of its structural development in order to create a better picture for the reader. Subsequently, evidence is given about the correlation between the brain, the language and the multimodal models of linguistic systems, in order to be clearly distinguished and identified within the brain. In addition, both the aging process of the brain and the general structural and functional changes observed are analyzed, as well as its reorganization, which involves the recruitment of compensatory mechanisms, in order to cope with the aging procedure. In the main part of this work, the linguistic functions are presented more detailed along with the reductions they receive as they age. Some cognitive functions are also analyzed, which are inevitably related to language systems and are also affected in turn. Then, we summarize the pathological aspect of aging and more specifically the dementia syndrome, which is a common consequence of it. Finally, factors that prove to be beneficial for cognitive reserve are discussed, so that the elderly can extend the occurrence of cognitive impairments. | en |
| heal.abstract | Η παρούσα εργασία πραγματεύεται το φαινόμενο της γήρανσης του εγκεφάλου, προϊούσης της ηλικίας, και πιο συγκεκριμένα επικεντρώνεται στην φθορά και την κάμψη των συστημάτων της γλώσσας. Αρχικά, γίνεται μια γενική αναφορά στον σημαντικό ρόλο που διαδραματίζει ο εγκέφαλος, καθώς επεξηγείται και η διαδικασία της δομικής του ανάπτυξης, ώστε να δημιουργηθεί μια πιο ολοκληρωμένη εικόνα στον αναγνώστη. Στη συνέχεια, παρατίθενται στοιχεία ως προς τον συσχετισμό του εγκεφάλου με την γλώσσα και γίνεται ανάλυση των πολυτροπικών μοντέλων των γλωσσικών συστημάτων, με σκοπό να γίνουν ξεκάθαρα η διάκριση και ο εντοπισμός τους μέσα στον εγκέφαλο. Επιπρόσθετα, αναλύεται τόσο η διαδικασία γήρανσης του εγκεφάλου και οι γενικές δομικές και λειτουργικές αλλαγές που παρατηρούνται, όσο και η αναδιοργάνωσή του, που περιλαμβάνει την πρόσληψη αντισταθμιστικών μηχανισμών, ώστε να ανταπεξέλθει στο φαινόμενο της γήρανσης. Στο κύριο μέρος της εργασίας, παρουσιάζονται αναλυτικότερα οι γλωσσικές λειτουργίες μαζί με τις μειώσεις που δέχονται κατά την γήρανση. Ακόμη, γίνεται ανάλυση και ορισμένων γνωστικών λειτουργιών, οι οποίες συνδέονται αναπόφευκτα με τα γλωσσικά συστήματα και επηρεάζονται και αυτά με τη σειρά τους. Έπειτα, αναφέρεται συνοπτικά η παθολογική πλευρά της γήρανσης και πιο συγκεκριμένα το σύνδρομο της άνοιας, που αποτελεί σύνηθες επακόλουθό της. Τέλος, γίνεται λόγος στους παράγοντες που αποδεικνύονται ωφέλιμοι για την γνωστική διατήρηση, ώστε οι ηλικιωμένοι να είναι σε θέση να δώσουν παράταση στην εμφάνιση των γνωστικών απωλειών. | el |
