heal.abstractMass spectra have been recorded for cobalt, nickel and copper complexes of the active aldehyde derivatives of thiamine, 2-(alpha-hydroxybenzyl)- and 2-(alpha-hydroxy-cyclohexylmethyl)-3-(4'-amino-2' methyl-pyrimidin-5'-yl-methyl)-5-(2-hydroxyethyl)-4-methyl)thiazole (L). The observed fragmentation patterns provide further support for the proposed MLCI3 formulations of the Co(ll) and Ni(ll) complexes, and also for oxidation of the active aldehyde derivatives of thiamine to thiochrome (L') during production of the copper complexes CuL'Cl2.H2O and [Cu(L'H)Cl][CuCl3(MeOH)].en
