Organochlorine pesticide residues have been monitored in sediments and surface waters in two rivers (Kalamas and Louros) and in the lake Pamvotis of North-western Greece. The same compounds have been detected in soil samples from the surrounding area of Ioannina, the capital city of the region of Epirus. All the samplings were carried out during the period January 1992 to October 1993. The results are discussed in terms of the amounts of the detected pesticides and the climatic conditions in the last four years.en
