heal.abstractThe concentration of selected polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH's), phenolic compounds and heavy metals in surface waters of Shkumbini, Semani, Ishmi rivers and Shkodra lake in Albania, was determined. All the sampling were carried out during 1993. The organic compounds, were identified and quantified by capillary gas chromatography (GC/FID) and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GS/MS). The heavy metals were determined by atomic absorption spectrometry (AAS). The results concerning the environmental situation of these aquatic systems are discussed.en
