| heal.abstract | Οι περισσότερες αξιολογήσεις για τον εντοπισμό πιθανής χαρισματικότητας σε μαθητές φαίνεται να επικεντρώνονται, κυρίως, σε αποτελέσματα από τεστ γενικής νοημοσύνης, δίχως να λαμβάνουν υπόψη τους τις επιδόσεις των μαθητών και σε άλλες ικανότητες, όπως η οπτικο-χωρική. Αυτή η πρακτική έχει ως αποτέλεσμα να μένει εκτός μια μεγάλη ομάδα παιδιών «χωρίς διάγνωση», καθώς πρόσφατες έρευνες υποδεικνύουν ότι υπάρχει υψηλός βαθμός συσχέτισης μεταξύ της χωρικής ικανότητας και της χαρισματικότητας. Στόχος της παρούσας εργασίας είναι η διερεύνηση της σχέσης της οπτικο-χωρικής ικανότητας, της ρέουσας νοημοσύνης και της ταχύτητας επεξεργασίας μαθητών/τριών, 10 έως 14 ετών, με την εκτίμηση πιθανής χαρισματικότητάς τους, εκ μέρους των εκπαιδευτικών τους. Στην έρευνα συμμετείχαν 185 μαθητές, και των δύο φύλων, της Ε΄ και της ΣΤ΄ τάξης Δημοτικού καθώς και της Α΄ και Β΄ τάξης Γυμνασίου που φοιτούν σε δημόσια σχολεία της Ελλάδας, καθώς και ο ίδιος αριθμός εκπαιδευτικών. Οι μαθητές εξετάστηκαν μέσω τριών σύντομων ψυχομετρικών δοκιμασιών (Τεστ Σειράς Αριθμών, Τεστ Αριθμητικών Πράξεων, Τεστ Διπλώματος Χαρτιού), οι οποίες μετρούν τη νοερή περιστροφή, την ταχύτητα επεξεργασίας (αριθμητικό συμβολικό σύστημα), καθώς και τη ρέουσα νοημοσύνη. Οι εκπαιδευτικοί των μαθητών κλήθηκαν να συμπληρώσουν τρεις από τις Κλίμακες Εκτίμησης Συμπεριφοράς Υπερεχόντων Μαθητών (Scales for Rating the Behavioral Characteristics of Superior Students (SRBCSS-R; Renzulli et al., 2013), και ειδικότερα, αυτές που αφορούν τα συμπεριφορικά χαρακτηριστικά των μαθητών/τριών στους τομείς των Μαθηματικών, της Τεχνολογίας και της Επιστήμης. Τα δεδομένα κωδικοποιήθηκαν και με τη χρήση του λογισμού IBM SPSS Statistics 29.0.1.0 έγιναν στατιστικές αναλύσεις για τη διερεύνηση του βαθμού συσχέτισης των γνωστικών ικανοτήτων των μαθητών με τις κλίμακες που συμπλήρωσαν οι εκπαιδευτικοί. Τα αποτελέσματα έδειξαν ότι μόνο η ρέουσα νοημοσύνη των μαθητών αποτελεί προβλεπτικό δείκτη υπόδειξης χαρισματικών συμπεριφορών εκ μέρους των εκπαιδευτικών, σε αντίθεση με τη οπτικο-χωρική ικανότητα και την ταχύτητα επεξεργασίας. | el |
| heal.abstract | Most assessments aimed at identifying potential giftedness in students appear to focus primarily on performance on general intelligence tests, without taking into account students’ performance in other abilities, such as visuospatial ability. This practice may result in a large group of children remaining “unidentified,” as recent research suggests that there is a strong association between spatial ability and giftedness. The aim of the present study is to investigate the relationship between students’ visuospatial ability, fluid intelligence, and processing speed, aged 10 to 14 years, and their teachers’ estimations of their potential giftedness. The study included 185 students of both genders from the fifth and sixth grades of primary school and the first and second grades of lower secondary school, attending public schools in Greece, as well as an equal number of teachers. The students were assessed using three brief psychometric tests (Number Test, Arithmetic Operations Test, and Paper Folding Test), which measure mental rotation, processing speed (numerical-symbolic processing), and fluid intelligence, respectively. The students’ teachers were asked to complete three scales from the Scales for Rating the Behavioral Characteristics of Superior Students (SRBCSS-R; Renzulli et al., 2013), specifically those assessing students’ behavioral characteristics in the domains of Mathematics, Technology, and Science. The data were coded and statistical analyses were conducted using IBM SPSS Statistics version 29.0.1.0 to investigate the extent to which students’ cognitive abilities were associated with the scales completed by their teachers. The results indicated that only students’ fluid intelligence was a significant predictor of teachers’ identification of gifted behaviors, whereas visuospatial ability and processing speed did not significantly predict teachers’ ratings. | en |
