| heal.abstract | Η παρούσα διπλωματική εργασία διερευνά συστηματικά το προφίλ των εθελοντών δοτών μυελού των οστών μέσω ποσοτικής αποτύπωσης κοινωνικοδημογραφικών και αιματολογικών παραμέτρων, με σκοπό την εις βάθος κατανόηση των παραγόντων που διαμορφώνουν την εθελοντική συμμετοχή και τη βελτίωση της λειτουργικότητας των μητρώων δοτών. Η έρευνα εντάσσεται στο θετικιστικό επιστημολογικό πλαίσιο και εφαρμόζει περιγραφική‑αναλυτική μεθοδολογία, αξιοποιώντας δομημένο ερωτηματολόγιο και εργαστηριακή αξιολόγηση σε δείγμα 200 ατόμων που έχουν εγγραφεί ως εθελοντές δότες. Το θεωρητικό σκέλος της εργασίας παρουσιάζει τη βιολογική θεμελίωση της αιματοποίησης, τη λειτουργική οργάνωση του μυελού των οστών και τις σύγχρονες προσεγγίσεις στη μεταμόσχευση αιμοποιητικών κυττάρων, ενώ εξετάζει διεξοδικά τους κοινωνικοδημογραφικούς παράγοντες που επηρεάζουν την εθελοντική συμμετοχή στη δωρεά. Παράλληλα, αναλύονται οι αιματολογικοί δείκτες που χρησιμοποιούνται για την αξιολόγηση της καταλληλότητας των δοτών, αναδεικνύοντας τον κρίσιμο ρόλο της κλινικής εκτίμησης στην εξασφάλιση της ασφάλειας και της αποτελεσματικότητας της διαδικασίας. Τα αποτελέσματα της έρευνας αναδεικνύουν ότι οι εθελοντές δότες συγκροτούν έναν πληθυσμό νεαρής ηλικίας, με αυξημένη συμμετοχή γυναικών και με συνολικά υψηλό επίπεδο αυτοαναφερόμενης υγείας. Οι αιματολογικές παράμετροι που εξετάστηκαν κυμαίνονται εντός φυσιολογικών ορίων, στοιχείο που επιβεβαιώνει την κλινική καταλληλότητα των συμμετεχόντων για μελλοντικές διαδικασίες δωρεάς. Παράλληλα, η προθυμία εμπλοκής σε αιμοπεταλιοδοσία και δωρεά μυελού των οστών εμφανίζεται ιδιαίτερα ενισχυμένη, αντανακλώντας έντονη αλτρουιστική διάθεση και θετική στάση απέναντι στην εθελοντική προσφορά. Η αξιοποίηση πολυμεταβλητών τεχνικών ανάλυσης, όπως η PCA και η k‑means ομαδοποίηση, επιτρέπει τη διάκριση των δοτών σε επιμέρους ομάδες καταλληλότητας, προσφέροντας μια πιο σύνθετη και πολυδιάστατη κατανόηση της δομής και των χαρακτηριστικών του πληθυσμού. Η ερμηνεία των αποτελεσμάτων συνδέεται με τα διεθνώς καταγεγραμμένα πρότυπα, επιβεβαιώνοντας ότι οι νεαροί ενήλικες και οι γυναίκες αποτελούν τις ομάδες με τη μεγαλύτερη τάση συμμετοχής στη δωρεά μυελού των οστών. Τα τελικά πορίσματα αναδεικνύουν την αναγκαιότητα ανάπτυξης στοχευμένων παρεμβάσεων ενημέρωσης και ενδυνάμωσης της συμμετοχής, καθώς και τη βελτίωση των μητρώων δοτών μέσω πιο αποτελεσματικών στρατηγικών προσέλκυσης. Παράλληλα, προτείνονται κατευθύνσεις για περαιτέρω ερευνητική διερεύνηση και για αξιοποίηση των ευρημάτων στην κλινική πράξη, με στόχο την ενίσχυση της ποιότητας και της βιωσιμότητας των προγραμμάτων εθελοντικής δωρεάς. | el |
| heal.abstract | This thesis systematically investigates the profile of volunteer bone marrow donors through a quantitative analysis of sociodemographic and hematological parameters, with the aim of gaining an in-depth understanding of the factors that influence voluntary participation and improving the functionality of donor registries. The study is grounded in a positivist epistemological framework and employs a descriptive-analytical methodology, utilizing a structured questionnaire and laboratory testing on a sample of 200 individuals who have registered as volunteer donors. The theoretical section of this study presents the biological basis of hematopoiesis, the functional organization of the bone marrow, and contemporary approaches to hematopoietic cell transplantation, while thoroughly examining the sociodemographic factors that influence voluntary participation in donation. At the same time, it analyzes the hematological markers used to assess donor eligibility, highlighting the critical role of clinical evaluation in ensuring the safety and effectiveness of the process. The results of the study show that volunteer donors constitute a young population, with a high proportion of women and an overall high level of self-reported health. The hematological parameters examined fall within normal ranges, a finding that confirms the participants’ clinical eligibility for future donation procedures. At the same time, the willingness to participate in platelet donation and bone marrow donation appears particularly strong, reflecting a strong altruistic disposition and a positive attitude toward voluntary donation. The use of multivariate analysis techniques, such as PCA and k-means clustering, allows donors to be classified into specific eligibility groups, providing a more comprehensive and multidimensional understanding of the population’s structure and characteristics. The interpretation of the results aligns with internationally established standards, confirming that young adults and women are the groups most likely to participate in bone marrow donation. The final findings highlight the need to develop targeted interventions to raise awareness and encourage participation, as well as to improve donor registries through more effective recruitment strategies. At the same time, guidelines are proposed for further research and for applying the findings in clinical practice, with the aim of enhancing the quality and sustainability of voluntary donation programs. | en |
