| heal.abstract | Αντικείμενο της παρούσας διατριβής είναι η βιομηχανία της Κέρκυρας, από την ανάδυσή της στο τελευταίο τέταρτο του 19ου αιώνα μέχρι την είσοδο της Ελλάδας στο Β’ Παγκόσμιο Πόλεμο. Οι κύριοι άξονες που εξετάζονται είναι η λειτουργία και η εξέλιξη των βιομηχανικών επιχειρήσεων, η συγκρότηση των εργασιακών σχέσεων και η διαμόρφωση των όρων εργατικής συλλογικής δράσης στα εργοστάσια της Κέρκυρας κατά την περίοδο 1870-1940. Στο πρώτο μέρος πραγματοποιείται μια σύντομη περιγραφή της πόλης της Κέρκυρας, των μεταβολών που υπέστη μετά την Ένωση των Επτανήσων αλλά και των σταθερών χαρακτηριστικών της: την ύπαρξη διαφορετικών εθνοθρησκευτικών ομάδων εντός αυτής και την παρουσία του λιμανιού που παρέμενε σημαντικός σταθμός διαμετακόμισης εμπορευμάτων. Επίσης εξετάζεται συνολικά η βιομηχανία στην Κέρκυρα, με έμφαση στη μετάβαση από τα εργαστήρια του 19ου αιώνα στα πρώτα εργοστάσια, την προέλευση των πρώτων βιομηχάνων, τις πολιτικές και οικονομικές κρίσεις που προκάλεσαν αναταράξεις στην τοπική αγορά. Με εργαλεία της ιστορίας επιχειρήσεων, αναλύονται οι σημαντικότερες βιομηχανίες της Κέρκυρας ανά κλάδο· το προφίλ των επιχειρηματιών που τις δημιούργησαν, η δομή, η στρατηγική τους, η οικονομική, η παραγωγική και η εμπορική τους λειτουργία. Η ανάλυση των εργασιακών σχέσεων αποτελεί το δεύτερο βασικό πυλώνα της διατριβής. Η προσέγγιση που ακολουθείται εδώ οργανώνεται γύρω από βασικές θεματικές που απασχολούν την ιστορία της εργασίας, όπως συναντώνται στη βιβλιογραφία: την περιγραφή της σύνθεσης του εργατικού δυναμικού της βιομηχανίας, τον ρόλο της οικογένειας στην αγορά εργασίας, την οργάνωση και τον καταμερισμό της εργασίας, τις συνθήκες υγιεινής, την αμοιβή και τη συλλογική δράση των εργατών. | el |
| heal.abstract | The subject of this thesis is the industry of Corfu, from its emergence in the last quarter of the nineteenth century until 1940, when Greece entered World War II. The main axes examined are the operation and development of industrial enterprises, the formation of labour relations, and the shaping of the conditions for workers’ collective action in the factories of Corfu during the period 1870–1940. The first part provides a brief description of the city of Corfu, the transformations it underwent after the annexation of the Ionian Islands to Greece, as well as its enduring characteristics: the presence of different ethno-religious groups within the city and the existence of the port, which remained an important transit hub for trade goods. It also examines industry in Corfu, with emphasis on the transition from the workshops of the nineteenth century to the first factories, the origins of the first industrialists, and the political and economic crises that caused upheavals in the local market. Using the tools of business history, the dissertation analyzes the most important factories in Corfu by sector, as well as the profile of the entrepreneurs who established them, their structure, strategy, and their economic, productive, and commercial operations. The analysis of labour relations constitutes the second main pillar of the dissertation. The approach followed here is organized around key themes central to labour history, as reflected in recent historiography: the composition of the industrial workforce, the role of the family in the labour market, the organization and division of labour, sanitary and working conditions, wages, and workers’ collective action. | en |
