heal.abstractΌλοι μας κατοικούμε στους όγκους οι οποίοι δεν καταλαμβάνονται από αντικείμενα. Στην εργασία αυτή, διερευνάται η έννοια του «κενού», ως ενεργός και καθοριστικός παράγοντας στον αρχιτεκτονικό σχεδιασμό. Δεν προσεγγίζεται ως απλή απουσία μορφής, αλλά σαν ένα ενεργό πεδίο δυνατοτήτων. Μέσα από θεωρητική έρευνα και ανάλυση επιλεγμένων παραδειγμάτων, κωδικοποιείται σε 3 είδη κενού∙ το πολιτισμικό κενό ή αλλιώς το κενό σαν έννοια (ma), το φαινομενολογικό κενό ή αλλιώς το ενσώματο, αισθητηριακό και τέλος το μετρήσιμο, το οποίο καθίσταται κλιματική συνθήκη και μηχανισμός. Μέσω της έρευνας, αποκαλύπτεται πως αυτά μολονότι διαφορετικά, αλληλεπικαλύπτονται, συγκροτώντας ένα ενιαίο σύστημα. Επαναπροσδιορίζονται οι σχέσεις μορφής, σώματος και περιβάλλοντος. Πλέον το κενό καθίσταται ο τόπος στον οποίο ενεργοποιούνται μνήμες, αισθήσεις και ενεργειακές ροές∙ δυναμικές αόρατες, αλλά καθοριστικές για τη χρήση του χώρου. Συμπερασματικά, η εργασία υποστηρίζει πως η αρχιτεκτονική δε διαμορφώνεται μόνο από τα δομικά της στοιχεία, αλλά κυρίως από τις άυλες συνθήκες οι οποίες εκτυλίσσονται γύρω από αυτά, δημιουργώντας την ανθρώπινη εμπειρία. Σχεδιάζουμε, τελικά, για να δημιουργηθούν συνθήκες.el
heal.abstractWe all inhabit the spaces that aren’t occupied by objects. In this study, the concept of the «void» is investigated as an active and determining factor in architectural design. It is not approached as a mere absence of form, but as an active field of possibilities. Through theoretical research and after analysis of selected case studies, the void is articulated into 3 fundamental types; the cultural void, or the void as a concept (ma), the phenomenological void, understood as embodied and sensory and lastly the measurable void, which functions as a climatic condition and a design mechanism. The research reveals that, although distinct, these forms overlap and together constitute an integrated system. The relationship between form, body and environment are redefined. The void emerges as the space in which memories, sensations and energetic flows are activated and expanded; dynamics that are invisible yet decisive for the use and meaning of space. Ultimately, this work argues that architecture is shaped not only by its material elements, but primarily by the intangible conditions that unfold around them and generate human experience. In the end, we design to spark conditions.en
