| heal.abstract | Η εργασία αποτελεί ένα love letter προς την ταινία ‘The cook, the thief, his wife & her lover’ (Peter Greenaway, 1989). Η ταινία αυτή, είναι όχι μόνο μία από τις αγαπημένες μου, αλλά και ένα από τα καλύτερα έργα τέχνης που έχω παρακολουθήσει ποτέ. Από την πρώτη προβολή μου κέντρισε τόσο το ενδιαφέρον, που αποφάσισα να την επιλέξω ως τον κεντρικό άξονα της διπλωματικής μου εργασίας. Έτσι, αυτή η μελέτη είναι αποτέλεσμα της παρατήρησης της ταινίας από διαφορετικές οπτικές, της εξέτασης των σκηνογραφικών στοιχείων και της συλλογής πληροφοριών, με σκοπό τη δημιουργία χωρικών μεταγραφών και ερμηνευτικών αντικειμένων. Η παραγωγή όλων των σχεδίων, μακετών, αντικειμένων και εντύπων έγινε, κατά κύριο λόγο, στο χέρι. Αυτή η επιλογή σχετίζεται με την επιθυμία να ‘κατασκευαστεί’ η ταινία από το μηδέν, με προσωπική οπτική, αλλά και να μετατραπεί σε χειροπιαστό αντικείμενο προς παρουσίαση. Η διεργασία και ο επιπλέον χρόνος που χρειάστηκε για να δημιουργηθούν ορισμένα τμήματα της εργασίας, βοήθησε στην προσεκτική παρατήρηση και κατανόηση του τι και γιατί παράχθηκε και πώς σχετίζονται με την ταινία, τα αντικείμενα που παρήχθησαν. Μέσω αυτών των αντικειμένων/ προϊόντων, προσπάθησα να έρθω, ίσως, πιο κοντά με την ταινία, να την παρουσιάσω καλύτερα σε άλλα άτομα που είτε την έχουν δει, είτε όχι, και τέλος, να καταφέρω να την ξεπεράσω. | heal.abstract | This thesis is a love letter to the film ‘The cook, the thief, his wife & her lover’ (Peter Greenaway, 1989). This film is not only one of my personal favourites, but also one of the best works of art that I’ve ever experienced. From the first viewing it captured my interest so much so that I decided to choose it to be the main focus of my thesis. Thus, this study is a result of a careful observation of the film from different perspectives, an examination of the scenographic elements and a collection of information in order to create spatial transcriptions and interpretive objects. The production of all drawings, models, objects and prints was mainly done by hand. This choice is related to the desire to ‘build’ the film from scratch, using a personal viewpoint, while transforming it into a tangible object, ready to be presented. This process and the extra time that was required for certain aspects of the creations helped to carefully observe and understand what was produced and why, as well as how the objects produced are related to the film. Through these objects/products, I have tried to, perhaps, come closer to the film, to better present it to other people who have either seen it or not and -eventually- let it go.
