| heal.abstract | Η παρούσα διπλωματική εργασία εστιάζει στη γειτονιά της Αγίας Βαρβάρας, μια περιοχή στο κέντρο της Πάτρας που διαφέρει έντονα από τον εξωστρεφή χαρακτήρα του αστικού ιστού της πόλης. Η γειτονιά χαρακτηρίζεται από εσωστρέφεια, έλλειψη δημόσιων χώρων και κοινωνικής συνοχής, καθώς και πλήθος αστικών κενών που ενισχύουν την απομόνωση και την αίσθηση εγκατάλειψης. Βασικός στόχος της εργασίας είναι η αντιμετώπιση του φαινομένου της Αστικής Θερμικής Νησίδας, το οποίο αποτελεί μια σημαντική περιβαλλοντική πρόκληση για τις σύγχρονες πόλεις. Παράλληλα, επιδιώκεται η ενίσχυση της κοινωνικής αλληλεπίδρασης μέσω της αναδιάρθρωσης του αστικού χώρου. Η πρόταση αξιοποιεί τα αστικά κενά, μετατρέποντάς τα σε δημόσιους χώρους με πράσινες και υδάτινες παρεμβάσεις, οι οποίες συμβάλλουν στη μείωση της θερμοκρασίας, μιμούμενες τις βιολογικές διεργασίες των ριζών των φυτών. Οι λειτουργίες που εντάσσονται βασίζονται στις ανάγκες των κατοίκων της περιοχής και στοχεύουν στην εξυπηρέτηση καθημερινών δραστηριοτήτων και στην ενίσχυση της κοινωνικής αλληλεπίδρασης. Το σχέδιο περιλαμβάνει τη δημιουργία διαδρομών φιλικών προς τους πεζούς, τον περιορισμό της κίνησης των οχημάτων και τη διαμόρφωση χώρων που συνδυάζουν οικολογικές λειτουργίες με την κοινωνική ζωή. Η παρέμβαση αποσκοπεί στην αναζωογόνηση της γειτονιάς, καθιστώντας την πιο βιώσιμη, προσβάσιμη και φιλική προς τους κατοίκους της. | el |
| heal.abstract | This thesis focuses on the neighborhood of Agia Varvara, an area in the center of Patras that differs strongly from the extrovert character of the urban fabric of the city. The neighborhood is characterized by introversion, lack of public spaces and social cohesion, as well as a multitude of urban voids that reinforce isolation and a sense of abandonment. The main objective of this thesis is to address the Urban Heat Island effect, which is a major environmental challenge for modern cities. At the same time, the aim is to enhance social interaction through the restructuring of urban space. The proposal exploits urban voids, transforming them into public spaces with green and aquatic interventions, which contribute to reducing temperature, mimicking the biological processes of plant roots. The functions included are based on the needs of local residents and aim to serve daily activities and enhance social interaction. The plan includes the creation of pedestrian-friendly pathways, the restriction of vehicle movement and the creation of spaces that combine ecological functions with social life. The intervention aims to revitalize the neighborhood, making it more sustainable, accessible and friendly to its residents. | en |
