| heal.abstract | Τα Γιάννινα του προηγούμενου αιώνα αναγνώριζαν κυρίως δύο δημόσιους χώρους: την άνω πλατεία (σημερινή Πλατεία Πύρρου) και την κάτω πλατεία (σημερινή πλατεία Ανδρέα Παπανδρέου μπροστά από το ρολόι της πόλης). Σε αυτή τη σχέση, παρατηρείται το παράδοξο, καθώς η σχέση άνω & κάτω στην πράξη πρόκειται για μια γραμμική σχεδόν ομοεπίπεδη σχέση παρά σε μια υψομετρική. Επίσης, σήμερα η "Κάτω Πλατεία" έχασε την ιδιότητά της και μετατράπηκε σε πολυσύχναστο δρόμο. Το ερώτημα που τίθεται είναι πώς μπορεί να αναβιώσει ο όρος "Κάτω Πλατεία" με ορθολογική υψομετρική σχέση και δημιουργικούς χειρισμούς. Κύριος στόχος της παρούσας διπλωματικής εργασίας είναι η ανάπλαση της σημερινής λαϊκής αγοράς των Ιωαννίνων, δημιουργώντας έναν συμπεριληπτικό δημόσιο χώρο, μια νέα πλατεία που βρίσκεται κάτω από την κεντρική πλατεία της πόλης. Η επιλογή της τοποθεσίας βασίζεται στη θέση της στην καρδιά της πόλης και στην καθημερινή της χρήση από τους πολίτες. Η ανάπλαση προκύπτει μέσω ενός ευρύτερου masterplan που αφορά το κέντρο της πόλης των Ιωαννίνων με την ανάπλαση του χώρου της σημερινής λαικής αγοράς. Η πρόταση διαρθώνεται μέσα από 5 σχεδιαστικές κινήσεις που στοχεύουν στη δημιουργία ενός “ζωντανού χώρου” που αναδεικνύει την ταυτότητα της περιοχής και ανταποκρίνεται στις ανάγκες όλων των χρηστών. Μέσω της παρούσας εργασίας πραγματοποιείται ανάπλαση της σημερινής λαϊκής αγοράς ως ένας σύγχρονος τόπος εμπορίου, η εννοποίηση της με το λόφο Λιθαριτσίων μέσω πάρκου και αστικού δάσους, και τέλος η μελλοντική πρόβλεψη για τη διάνοιξη ενός νέου άξονα που θα επαναπροσδιορίσει τον ανοικτό δημόσιο χώρο της πόλης και θα αποτελέσει μια νέα πρόσβαση προς τη λίμνη. Στόχος είναι η δημιουργία ζωντανών χώρων που ανταποκρίνονται στις ανάγκες όλων των χρηστών, η ανάδειξη της ταυτότητας των προτεινόμενων αστικών χώρων μέσω του τοπικού πολιτισμού και της ιστορίας, και ο σχεδιασμός ευέλικτων χώρων για ποικιλία κοινωνικών δραστηριοτήτων. Προτεραιότητα δίνεται στην περιβαλλοντική βιωσιμότητα και ανθεκτικότητα μέσω της εφαρμογής λύσεων που μετριάζουν το φαινόμενο της αστικής θερμικής νησίδας και βελτιώνουν το μικροκλίμα. | heal.abstract | Ioannina of the previous century mainly recognized two public spaces: the upper square (today's Pyrrhus Square) and the lower square (today's Andreas Papandreou Square in front of the city clock). In this relationship, the paradox is observed, as the relationship between upper & lower is in fact a linear almost co-planar relationship rather than a height relationship. Also, today the "Lower Square" has lost its status and turned into a busy street. The question that arises is how to revive the term "Lower Square" with a rational elevation relationship and creative manipulations. Principal objective of this thesis is the redevelopment of the current popular market of Ioannina, creating an inclusive public space, a new square located below the central square of the city. The choice of location is based on its position in the heart of the city and its daily use by citizens. The redevelopment arises through a wider masterplan involving the city centre of Ioannina with the redevelopment of the area of the current popular market. The proposal is structured through 5 design movements that aim to create a "living space" that highlights the identity of the area and responds to the needs of all users. Through this paper, a redevelopment of the current farmers' market as a modern place of commerce, its integration with the Litharitsia Hill through a park and urban forest, and finally the future provision of a new axis that will redefine the open public space of the city and provide a new access to the lake. The aim is to create vibrant spaces that meet the needs of all users, to enhance the identity of the proposed urban spaces through local culture and history, and to design flexible spaces for a variety of social activities. Priority is given to environmental sustainability and resilience through the implementation of solutions that mitigate the urban heat island effect and improve the microclimate.
