| el |
heal.abstract | This paper is a research investigation into the way popular music is taught in Greece, through formal, non-formal and informal forms of learning, as highlighted by Lucy Green in her research work. The absence of methods of teaching the musical instruments of popular music, initially led musicians to follow informal learning processes, while gradually there was a normalization of the situation with the presence of popular music initially in specialized educational institutions, such as conservatories and later in the academic field, creating the appropriate conditions for an integrated and multifaceted professional training. The way popular music is taught and learned is constantly evolving. Thus, the role of the musician as performer is significantly differentiated when taking on the role of educator, avoiding focusing on learning techniques and reproducing musical material, but promoting a more active, collaborative and creative approach to music education. The role of the musician as educator now requires the ability to encourage students to explore their imagination, develop their own musical identity and stimulate their creativity. Through a process of searching for access to music and the education of young people on contemporary musical styles, as well as on how this can be differentiated between large urban centres and provincial towns, an attempt was also made to investigate the characteristics of popular music in Greece, which are important for understanding the cultural and social evolution of music, as well as the development of the musical scene in our country. | en |
