heal.abstract | Breast cancer is the most common malignant disease affecting women. It consists of a set of types that are distinguished between invasive and non-invasive. The causative factors that can lead to breast cancer vary. The role of the nurse is very important in patient care. Purpose: The purpose of this paper is the presentation of important information regarding breast cancer, the role of the nurse and the presentation of the new research data of the modern literature. Material - method: A bibliographic review of the Greek and international literature was carried out in the online databases Pubmed and Google Scholar. The new research data consisted of articles published in the last five years in the English language. Results: Early diagnosis and effective treatment will help the patient feel better and see the future with optimism. The intervention of the nursing staff in the care of the patient and in her psychological support is decisive, as she is next to the patient and her family from the moment she enters for the initial examinations until the final stage of her life. Conclusions: The literature review shows that the earlier breast cancer is diagnosed, the greater the chance for better treatment and even a cure. In addition, the nurse's role is multifaceted and focuses on assessing the patient's condition, educating her and her family, counseling, supporting and caring for the patient. Effective patient care is primarily aimed at implementing appropriate nursing intervention. | el |
