| heal.abstract | Η παρούσα διδακτορική διατριβή με τίτλο: «Aldous Huxley-Ralph Cudworth: ένας ετεροχρονισμένος διάλογος», αποτελεί μια συγκριτική μελέτη με στόχο την ανάδειξη των ομοιοτήτων, δύο πολύ ιδιαίτερων στοχαστών,του δημοφιλούς συγγραφέα –μυθιστοριογράφου και υπερμάχου της Perennial Philosophy, Aldous Huxley (1894-1963) και του, λιγότερο γνωστού, φιλοσόφου και θεολόγου με κυρίαρχη θέση στο ρεύμα των Πλατωνιστών του Cambridge, Ralph Cudworth (1617-1688). Η σύνδεση των δύο αποτελεί μια πρωτότυπη σύλληψη που είχε ως αφετηρία τη μεταπτυχιακή μου εργασία με θέμα την ανάλυση της κοινωνικής θεωρίας του Ralph Cudworth, καθώς μια πρώτη απόπειρα σύνδεσης των δύο στοχαστών έγινε στο επίμετρο της συγκεκριμένης εργασίας. Πρωταρχική μέριμνα της διατριβής αποτελεί η ανάδειξη της σύνδεσης του θεολογικού στοιχείου και η επιρροή του στη διαμόρφωση του κοινωνικού γίγνεσθαι που επικρατεί και στους δύο στοχαστές. Κατόπιν η επισήμανση αλλής μίας, ίσως πιο καίριας ομοιότητας, η προσπάθεια και των δύο να αποσαφηνίσουν και να επαναπροσδιορίσουν το ρόλο της θρησκείας –αλλά και τη θέση του μυστικισμού- αναλύοντας τα φιλοσοφικά ρεύματα και θεολογικά δόγματα που εμπλέκονται. Στη διάκριση αυτή, εκτός από το εύρος παραπομπών και επιχειρημάτων από τους δύο μελετητές, περιλαμβάνεται και η ξεχωριστή θρησκευτική τοποθέτηση του καθενός, η καθαρά χριστιανική -από την πλευρά του Cudworth- και η εναλλακτικά θρησκευτική -από την πλευρά του Huxley- που επικεντρώνεται στον πυρήνα τριών εκ των επικρατέστερων θρησκειών (Χριστιανισμός,Βουδισμός,Ινδουισμός) στο πλαίσιο της Perennial Philosophy (και εξελικτικά με το ρεύμα των Tradistionalists). Συμπερασματικά, θα παρουσιαστεί η βαθύτερη σύνδεση των δύο στοχαστών, με τον μεταγενέστερο Huxley, να αποτελεί χρονικά, συνεχιστή της υπεράσπισης του θρησκευτικού στοιχείου απέναντι σε μορφές, όπως η τεχνολογία, που απειλούν την εξαφάνισή του, καθιστώντας το ξεπερασμένο και ανούσιο. | el |
| heal.abstract | The present doctoral thesis entitled: "Aldous Huxley-Ralph Cudworth: a heterochronized dialogue", is a comparative study with the aim of highlighting the similarities, two very special thinkers, the popular writer-novelist and champion of the Perennial Philosophy, Aldous Huxley (1894 -1963) and the lesser-known philosopher and theologian with a dominant position in the current of Cambridge Platonists, Ralph Cudworth (1617-1688). The connection of the two is an original conception that had as its starting point my master's thesis on the analysis of Ralph Cudworth's social theory, as a first attempt to connect the two thinkers was made in the epimeter of this particular thesis. The primary concern of the thesis is the highlighting of the connection of the theological element and its influence on the formation of the social becoming that prevails in both thinkers. Then the highlighting of another, perhaps more crucial similarity, the attempt of both to clarify and redefine the role of religion - but also the position of mysticism - by analyzing the philosophical currents and theological doctrines involved. In this distinction, in addition to the range of references and arguments from the two scholars, the separate religious position of each is also included, the purely Christian - from Cudworth's side - and the alternative religious - from Huxley's side - which focuses on the core of three of the dominant religions (Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism) in the context of the Perennial Philosophy (and evolutionarily with the current of Traditionalists). In conclusion, the deeper connection of the two thinkers will be presented, with the later Huxley being, in time, a continuation of the defense of the religious element against forms, such as technology, that threaten its disappearance, making it obsolete and meaningless. | en |
