| heal.abstract | Είναι γεγονός πλέον ότι στις σύγχρονες κοινωνίες προωθείται μια ρητορική της ευθανασίας. Στις λεγόμενες προοδευτικές χώρες, όπως είναι π.χ. η Ολλανδία, το Βέλγιο κλπ., συζητείται η νομοθετική ρύθμιση του τερματισμού της ζωής ακόμη και εκείνων των ηλικιωμένων ανθρώπων οι οποίοι δεν πάσχουν από καμία καταληκτήρια ασθένεια αλλά απλώς έχουν βαρεθεί τη ζωή τους. Εκείνο, επομένως, που θα προσπαθήσω να δείξω στην παρούσα ανακοίνωση είναι ότι, παράλληλα προς τη ρητορική της ευθανασίας και του κατά παραγγελία θανάτου, υπάρχει η ρητορική της ανακουφιστικής φροντίδας του ασθενούς που βρίσκεται σε καταληκτήριο στάδιο και των οικείων του που τον στηρίζουν. Ότι η ανακουφιστική φροντίδα των ασθενών έχει μια μακρά ιστορία που ανάγεται στη χριστιανική αρετή της φιλανθρωπίας και στη σύλληψη της κοινωνικής φροντίδας, ιδέες πάνω στις οποίες στηρίζεται το σύγχρονο ευρωπαϊκό κράτος κοινωνικής πρόνοιας. Ότι οι διάφορες κοινωνίες με το να αναπτύσσουν στην εποχή μας μια ρητορική της ευθανασίας η οποία μόνο κατ’ επίφαση αποτελεί έκφραση της αυτονομίας του ατόμου, στην πραγματικότητα προωθούν πολιτικές υγείας οι οποίες υποσκάπτουν κάθε έννοια κοινωνικής φροντίδας και στήριξης του πάσχοντα συνανθρώπου που έχει απομείνει στην κοινωνία μας. Κάτι που καθιστά επιτακτική την ανάπτυξη μιας ρητορικής της ανακουφιστικής και παρηγορητικής φροντίδας στην κοινωνία μας. | el |
| heal.abstract | It is a fact that in our contemporary societies people promote a rhetoric of euthanasia. In the so-called developed societies, such as The Netherlands, Belgium etc., people discuss widely the regulation of the ending of life even of those old people who do not suffer from any terminal disease, but they have simply got bored of their lives. Consequently, the thing that I will try to bring out in the present paper is that, along with the rhetoric of euthanasia and the voluntary termination of life, there is also the rhetoric of palliative care of the patient that finds himself in an irreversible condition, and of his family members that support him. I will show that the palliative care of patients can be traced back to the Christian virtue of philanthropy and the conception of social care, ideas on which the contemporary European state of social welfare was founded. I will further point out that by developing nowadays a rhetoric of euthanasia, which only superficially constitutes an expression of the individual’s autonomy, the contemporary societies in reality promote policies of health that mine every sense of social care and support towards the suffering fellow man. And this is something that renders necessary the development of a rhetoric of palliative care in our society. | en |
