| heal.abstract | Ο Ολλανδικός Ιατρικός Όρκος (Dutch Medical Oath, 2003) είναι ο νεότερος Ιατρικός Όρκος που έχει μέχρι τώρα προταθεί να αντικαταστήσει τον Όρκο της “Ιπποκρατικής Συλλογής”, τον επονομαζόμενο “Όρκο του Ιπποκράτη”, και εφαρμόζεται ήδη στην Ολλανδία. Λόγω της ιδιαιτερότητας της Ολλανδίας στα θέματα της ευθανασίας έχει ένα ξεχωριστό ενδιαφέρον κατά πόσο διαφοροποιείται αυτός από τον Όρκο της Ιπποκρατικής Συλλογής, που δήθεν απαγορεύει την ευθανασία. Είναι λοιπόν πρόοδος ή οπισθοδρόμηση; Θα μπορούσε να τον συνυπογράψει αν ζούσε σήμερα ο Ιπποκράτης; Αντιπαραθέτοντας τα εννέα άρθρα του Ιπποκρατικού Όρκου με τα 12 του Ολλανδικού, οκτώ από τα εννέα άρθρα του Ιπποκρατικού έχουν ενσωματωθεί πλήρως στον νέον Όρκο, προσαρμοσμένα όμως στο πνεύμα της σημερινής πολυπολιτισμικής ολλανδικής κοινωνίας. Οι επιπλέον τέσσερις προσθήκες, ακόμα και αυτές της ευθανασίας, ακολουθούν πλήρως το Πνεύμα του Ιπποκρατικού Όρκου, καθώς έχουν ενσωματώσει στο νέον Όρκο γραπτά της Ιπποκρατικής Συλλογής που συνάδουν με την σημερινή πραγματικότητα. Έτσι κρατιώνται απολύτως οι Ιπποκρατικές αρχές και μπορεί να ορκιστεί με αυτόν κάθε ιατρός διαφορετικών δογμάτων ή θρησκειών. Προσωπικά όμως πιστεύω ότι ο Ιπποκράτης δεν θα συμφωνούσε με την κατάργηση του τελευταίου άρθρου του Ιπποκρατικού Όρκου, αυτού της “Αυτοαράς”, δηλαδή της αυτοκατάρας του ιατρού. Το άρθρο που μεταφέρει την ευθύνη όλων των πράξεων του ιατρού στον εαυτό του, και με το οποίο ο ιατρός ζητά να τιμωρηθεί αν δεν ακολουθήσει αυτά που ορκίστηκε ("αν όμως παραβώ τον όρκο μου και τον πατήσω, να μου συμβούν ακριβώς τα αντίθετα"). Είναι το άρθρο που μετέτρεψε το επάγγελμά μας σε λειτούργημα. Ο Ιπποκράτης σίγουρα γνώριζε ότι οι νόμοι των ανθρώπων κωδικοποιούνται αφού έχει ανακύψει ένα πρόβλημα, και ήθελε έναν ιατρό με τόσο εκλεπτυσμένη συνείδηση που να μπορεί να σταθεί στο ύψος τού λειτουργήματός του πριν καν η πολιτεία δημιουργήσει έναν νέο νόμο. Να είναι δηλαδή υπεράνω των νόμων όταν πρόκειται για το καλό του ασθενή του, και να είναι έτοιμος ακόμα και ν’ αποθάνει γι’ αυτό. | el |
| heal.abstract | The Dutch Medical Oath (2003) is the newest Medical Oath that has so far been proposed to replace the Oath of the "Hippocratic Collection", the so-called "Oath of Hippocrates", and is already applied in the Netherlands. Due to the specificity of the Netherlands in matters of euthanasia, it is of particular interest how it differs from the Hippocratic Oath, which supposedly prohibits euthanasia. So, is it progress or regression? Could Hippocrates have co-signed it if he were alive today? Contrasting the nine articles of the Hippocratic Oath with the 12 of the Dutch, eight of the nine articles of the Hippocratic Oath have been fully incorporated into the Dutch Oath but adapted to the spirit of today's multicultural Dutch society. The additional four additions, even those of euthanasia, fully follow the spirit of the Hippocratic Oath, as they have incorporated into the new Oath writings of the Hippocratic Collection that are consistent with today's reality. Thus, the Hippocratic principles are absolutely kept, and every physician of different denominations or religions can swear it. Personally, however, I believe that Hippocrates would not agree with the abolition of the last article of the Hippocratic Oath, that of "Autoara", i.e., the physician's self-curse. The article which transfers the responsibility of all the physician's actions to himself, and by which the physician asks to be punished if he does not follow what he has sworn ("but if I break my oath and tread on it, let the very opposite befall me"). It is the article that turned our profession into a mission. Surely Hippocrates knew that people's laws are codified after a problem has arisen, and he wanted a physician with such a refined conscience that he could stand up to it before the state even creates a new law. That is, to be above the law when it comes to the good of his patient, and to be ready even to die for it. | en |
