heal.abstractThe folk song, as a creation of closed rural societies, expresses the experiences, ideas and feelings of the rural world in the history of our country. The artists who serve it, cannot escape from the gender approaches of the profession, especially until the last century. The purpose of this paper is to highlight the lived experience of women working professionally as folk singers and their structured identities. Interesting conclusions are drawn from the following analysis. From the interviews of all six folksingers it is clear that the complexity of the integration of women in folk music, family and society as a whole, almost always, seem negative at first to the profession. Family background seems to influence a lot the choice and the beginning of the career in folk music and to be an important impetus or not.en
