| heal.abstract | Ηγεμονία· Δεσποτεία· ένα Κράτος και μια Οικουμένη, ένας κόσμος που μεταβάλλεται, που επιβιώνει και πορεύεται στο χρόνο αλλάζοντας αλλά και παραμένοντας ταυτόχρονα ένας και ρωμαϊκός. Από την εποχή του Αυγούστου και τη γέννηση του εξουσιαστικού πλαισίου της Ηγεμονίας, έως τη κοίμηση του Κωνσταντίνου -που αποτελεί τον χρονικό επίλογο της παρούσας μελέτης μεσολαβούν πάνω από τριακόσια χρόνια· πρόκειται για ένα διάστημα μακρό, αλλά όχι απολύτως ενιαίο. Δυναστείες αυτοκρατόρων, ποικιλία εχθρών που προκάλεσαν - άλλοτε με μεγαλύτερη και άλλοτε με μικρότερη επιτυχία- τη Ρώμη, αλλά και εσωτερικές ανακατατάξεις, στάσεις και δολοφονίες αυτοκρατόρων απασχόλησαν -και θα εξακολουθήσουν- να απασχολούν την έρευνα, πληρώνοντας σελίδες σελίδων σε εγχειρίδια στρατιωτικής και πολιτικής Ιστορίας της μεγαλύτερης αυτοκρατορίας του μεσογειακού -και όχι μόνο- κόσμου. Η ερευνητική μας ενασχόληση με τα εν λόγω ζητήματα πραγματοποιήθηκε στο βαθμό που τα πρώτα θα συντελούσαν στη προσπάθεια για μια πλήρη -κατά το μέτρο του δυνατού- παρουσίαση των μεταβλητών που οδήγησαν στη σταδιακή μεταμόρφωση την ρωμαϊκή Οικουμένη και που κατήργησαν, αργά μα αποφασιστικά, την αυγούστεια Ηγεμονία και εγκαθίδρυσαν την διοκλητιάνεια -και κωνσταντίνεια- Δεσποτεία, άμεσος επίτοκος της οποίας ήταν η ύστερο-ρωμαϊκή / πρωτό-βυζαντινή αυτοκρατορία. Η προβολή στο χρόνο αυτής της αλληλουχίας των εξουσιαστικών μορφών, όπου τα διαφορετικά συστήματα μοιάζουν να συμπλέκονται ως κρίκοι σε μια αλυσίδα, όπου ο παλαιότερος δίνει λαβή στο νεώτερο να συνδεθεί και να γίνει φορέας της μιας και αυτής ρωμαϊκής παράδοσης, καταδεικνύει ακριβώς τη δύναμη της υπό τη Ρώμη Οικουμένης να προσαρμόζεται - και τελικώς, να επιβιώνει. | el |
| heal.abstract | Principate· Dominate· one State and one Oikoumene, a transforming world that endures and marches in time changing but yet remaining one and Roman. From the time of Augustus and the birth of the Principate's power structure, up until the death of Constantinte -which consists the chronological boundary of this study mediate more than three hundred year· that's a long timeframe and it's not fully coherent. Dynasties of emperors, a variety of enemies who defied -with higher or lower effectiveness- Rome, in combination with internal unrest, riots and murders of emperors have been studied intensively -and will continue to attract the scientific interest in the future- filling up pages upon pages of political and military's History handbooks of the greatest empire of the Mediterranean -and not only- world. Our research on these issues was carried out to the extent that the former would contribute to the effort for a complete - as far as possible - presentation of the variables that led to the gradual transformation of the Roman Oikoumene and that annulled, slowly but decisively, the August Principate and established the Diocletian - and Constantine - Dominate, whose direct offispring was the late Roman / early Byzantine Empire. The projection in time of this sequence of authoritarian forms, where the different systems seem to be intertwined like links in a chain, where the older one gives its place to the younger one to connect and become the bearer of this one and same Roman tradition, demonstrates the undeniable surviving power of the Roman Oikoumene to adapt - and ultimately, to survive. | en |
