| heal.abstract | Στην παρούσα διατριβή ερευνώ την σύσταση του αμερικανικού Underground (από αισθητικο-φιλοσοφική σκοπιά) και της εξέλιξής του κατά τη δεκαετία του ’60 με μία κεντρική ανάλυση των ριζοσπαστικών δράσεων εντός του 1968. Επιπλέον, στοχεύω και σε μια βαθύτερη κατανόηση ως προς τις κοινωνικο-πολιτιστικές προσλαμβάνουσες και προεκτάσεις του αμερικανικού ’68 σήμερα. Ως “underground” εννοώ δύο διακριτές τάσεις: το κοινωνικο-πολιτικό κίνημα αλλά και το προγενέστερο κοινωνικο-πολιτιστικό που αμφότερα αναδύθηκαν από το καινοτόμο αισθητικό πείραμα της αμερικανικής δεκαετίας του ’50. Αργότερα, κατά τη δεκαετία του ’60, οι δύο αυτές τάσεις κινούνται σε έναν κοινό δρόμο για την κοινωνική αλλαγή υπό την πίεση διάφορων ιστορικών παραγόντων. Συνεπώς, διερευνώνται αρχικά οι συνθήκες που ώθησαν την σύσταση του αμερικανικού underground (και της ιδιαιτερότητάς του) συμπεριλαμβανομένων των προπολεμικών ευρωπαϊκών φιλοσοφικών και αισθητικών ιδεών στην τέχνη και του αμερικανικού φιλοσοφικού πραγματισμού του 19ου και 20ού αιώνα. Κατόπιν τούτων, αποπειρώμαι την ερμηνευτική θεμελίωση της μετουσίωσης του αμερικανικού καλλιτεχνικού πειράματος (της δεκαετίας του ’50) σε κοινωνικο-πολιτικό κίνημα (αυτό της δεκαετίας του ’60). Υποστηρίζω, συγκεκριμένα, ότι το έργο τέχνης που κινήθηκε ενάντια στην αισθητική μορφή είναι το κλειδί για την βαθύτερη κατανόηση της παλλαπλότητας του κοινωνικο-πολιτικού underground εξαιτίας της ανάδυσης μιας ριζοσπαστικής αισθητικής (ως αποδόμησης της μορφής) που επεκτάθηκε κατά τη δεκαετία του ’60 στους αγώνες των κοινωνικών κινημάτων ως ένα είδος αλληγορίας μεταξύ ζωής και τέχνης. Μια διαλεκτική αλληγορία που μετουσιώνει το αισθητικό σε πολιτικό και συνεπάγεται, ως εκ τούτου, την εναντίωση στην ίδια την κοινωνική μορφή του καπιταλισμού (μετουσίωση του αισθητικο-εμπειρικού σε κοινωνικο-ιστορικό). Σε αυτή την κατεύθυνση, προσεγγίζω την αναγκαιότητα μιας κοινωνικο-πολιτιστικής αλλαγής σήμερα (σε επιτακτικότερη περιβαλλοντική συνθήκη με σαφώς πιο επιθετική τεχνική πρόοδο, μεταξύ άλλων, σε σχέση με τη δεκαετία του ’60). Εστιάζω στους διαρκείς αγώνες με πολλαπλά μέσα από τους καλλιτέχνες έως τους ακτιβιστές (τότε αλλά και σήμερα) εντός και ενάντια στην κυρίαρχη Μορφή. Το ερώτημα που αναδύεται «πέραν της κυρίαρχης Μορφής» (δηλαδή ένας ουτοπικός μετασχηματισμός ώστε το εντός και ενάντια στη Μορφή να γίνει και πέραν αυτής) είναι το ανοιχτό ιστορικό πείραμα για το μέλλον του 21ου αιώνα εμπνευσμένο από την αμερικανική αισθητικο-φιλοσοφική καινοτομία (του ’50 και του ’60). Συνοψίζοντας, προτείνω μια κριτική ανάγνωση του αμερικανικού underground (βασισμένη στον Adorno και τον Marcuse) για κοινωνική αλλαγή σήμερα ωθώντας σε μια αναβάθμιση της υφιστάμενης ορθολογικότητας χωρίς ταυτόχρονη υιοθέτηση της γνωστής (μεταμοντέρνας) θέσης για το τέλος της ιστορίας εντός της ιστορικής περιόδου του καπιταλισμού. Συνεπώς, η υπέρβαση της κυρίαρχης Μορφής είναι το πραγματικό ιστορικό καθήκον τότε αλλά και σήμερα. Απαιτεί, ωστόσο, έναν ριζοσπαστικό μετασχηματισμό της αισθητικής στις νέες ανορθολογικές συνθήκες της ύστερης νεοτερικότητας όπως ακριβώς συνέβη (σύμφωνα με την ερμηνεία μου) κατά τη διασταύρωση μεταξύ θεωρίας, τέχνης και κοινωνικής δράσης, που πραγματεύομαι. | heal.abstract | In this dissertation I look at the making of the American Underground (from aesthetic-philosophical aspect) and its evolution during the decade of 1960 with an analysis mainly on the revolutionary actions of 1968. In addition, I intend to a deeper understanding of the socio-cultural extensions of American ’68 nowadays. As an “underground” I mean two distinct tendencies: the socio-political movement and the earlier socio-cultural movement which both evolved from the innovation of aesthetic experiments in the American 50’s. Later, in the 60’s, these two tendencies move in a common path for the social change under the pressure of various historical factors. So, this work looks firstly into the conditions that prompted the making of American underground including the European prewar philosophical and aesthetic ideas in the art and the American philosophical pragmatism of the 19th and 20th century. After that, I attend to elaborate a transformational process from the American experimental art of the 50’s to the socio-political movement of the 60’s. I assert that the artwork which was orientated on the deconstruction of the art form is the key for understanding the multiformity of socio-political underground because the radical aesthetics as a deconstruction of the form was generalized in the 60’s in the struggles of the social movements as a dialectical allegory between art and life, that is a deconstruction of the social form of capitalism. In this direction, I approach the necessity of a socio-cultural change nowadays (in a more urgent environmental condition with more aggressive technological progress in comparison to the sixties). I focus on the constant struggles with various means from the artists to the activists (then and today) within and against the dominant Form. The emerged question “beyond the dominant Form” (a utopian transformation so that from within and against to become beyond the Form) is the experiment that is open to history for the future of the 21st century inspired by the American aesthetic-philosophical innovation (of the 50’s and 60’s). To end up, I suggest a critical reading of the American underground (based on Adorno and Marcuse) for social change nowadays leading our rationality in a higher level without the adoption of the known (postmodern) position about the end of the history in the historic period of humanity under capitalism. Consequently, the overcome of the dominant social Form is the real historical demand then and today. But it calls for a radical transformation of the aesthetics in the new irrational conditions of the late modernity as it has happened in the cross between the theory, the art and the social action which I analyze. When Critical Theory met the lively history that was written from below, in this brief but deep rupture of the American way of ’68. | en |
