heal.abstractThe present study is an attempt to reveal the development of the secondary school in Zitsa after the Balkan wars, mainly in the first two years, after the end of the war. According to the school register 51 students attended lessons in this school. The majority of them come from Zitsa. Apart from that, important information referred to this school register, for example their birth place, their age and other personal information for every child. Furthermore, in this historical period there were also a primary school and a girls’ school. Also many children from neighboring villages such as Lithino and Karitsa studied in this school. In conclusion, student s’ attendance was related to family’s financial status, every family paid fees for their children in order to attend lessons in this school. The majority of children came from a middle class background.en
