| heal.abstract | Η παρούσα εργασία αφορά τις λογοτεχνικές οφειλές του Λέοντος Διακόνου στον Αγαθία, δηλαδή τη σχέση μεταξύ των δύο αυτών ιστορικών. Μελετώντας συγκεκριμένες παραμέτρους της σχέσης αυτής, όπως η συνάφεια με τα στρατιωτικά εγχειρίδια, η Θεία Πρόνοια και οι ιστορικές φυσιογνωμίες, έγινε αντιληπτό ότι ο Λέων αδιαμφισβήτητα επηρεάστηκε από τον Αγαθία χωρίς όμως να αποτελεί το καθολικό του πρότυπο. Ο Λέων χρησιμοποίησε στοιχεία από τον Αγαθία για να εμπλουτίσει την αφήγησή του κυρίως στο προοίμιο και στην διήγηση πολεμικών αναμετρήσεων με τους Άραβες και τους Ρώσους. Τα ιστοριογραφικά έργα των δυο προσωπικοτήτων αφηγούνται την ιστορική πραγματικότητα της εποχής, το καθένα με τον τρόπο του, εστιάζοντας στις πολεμικές επιχειρήσεις του βυζαντινού κράτους. Η λεπτομερής περιγραφή των μαχών που αφηγούνται οι δύο ιστορικοί, μας έκανε να διερευνήσουμε πιο ουσιαστικά τις πιθανές πηγές τους, λαμβάνοντας υπόψη και τις διαφορετικές χρονικές περιόδους που γράφουν. Οπωσδήποτε, όμως, υπήρχαν κοινά πρότυπα και για τους δυο που τους βοήθησαν στη οργάνωση της αφήγησής τους. Τα μοτίβα που απηχούσαν πιθανές κοινές πηγές των ιστορικών μας υποκατηγοριοποιήθηκαν προκειμένου να αναδειχθεί η πιθανή αυτή συνάφεια, με εφαλτήριο της όλης προσπάθειας συγκεκριμένες σκηνές μάχης στον Λέοντα δανεισμένες, ως προς την περιγραφή, από τον Αγαθία. Η προσπάθεια που πραγματοποιήθηκε στη μελέτη μας εστίασε κατά κύριο λόγο σ’ αυτά τα μοτίβα χωρίς να εξαντλούνται τα περιθώρια μελέτης και εμβάθυνσης στα έργα του Λέοντος και του Αγαθία. Ο καθένας τους γράφει για την ιστορική πραγματικότητα της εποχής του έχοντας ως εφόδια τις κοινωνικές, πολιτικές και πολιτισμικές συνθήκες που επικρατούσαν. | el |
| heal.abstract | The present study explores the literary influence of Agathias on the work of Leo the Deacon, that is, the relationship between these two historians. Studying specific parameters of this relationship, such as the similarities in the authors’ military manuals, the importance of Divine Providence and many historical figures, it was concluded that Leo was unquestionably influenced by Agathias; even though he was not his only literary model. Leon used many elements from Agathias’ work to enrich his narrative, mainly in his preamble and when narrating the war battles against the Arabs and the Russians. Both their historiographical works narrate the historical reality of the time, each in his own way, focusing on the military operations of the Byzantine state. The detailed descriptions of the battles narrated by the two historians, led this study to explore their possible sources more substantially, taking into account the different time periods during which they lived. Each of them writes about the historical reality of his own time, influenced by the social, political and cultural conditions that prevailed then. This study makes evident that both historians had common standards which helped them organize their narrative. The repeating motifs that reflected possible common sources were subcategorized in order to highlight this probable contiguity. This was mostly evident in specific battle scenes that Leo borrowed, as far as the description is concerned, from Agathias. This study focused mainly on these motifs thus creating further academic room for future deeper study on the works of Leo and Agathias. | en |
