| heal.abstract | Η μακραίωνη παρουσία της Αρτινής Εβραϊκής Κοινότητας στον ηπειρώτικο γεωγραφικό χώρο έπαιξε πρωτεύοντα ρόλο στην επιλογή του θέματος της παρούσας έρευνας, το οποίο στοχεύει στην ανίχνευση της κοινωνικο-οικονομικής και εκπαιδευτικής κατάστασης των Αρτινών Εβραίων κατά την περίοδο 1900-1959. Ταυτόχρονα, το θέμα της έρευνας προέκυψε ως απότοκο της απουσίας πρότερων ερευνητικών προσπαθειών για την Κοινότητα αυτή, ενώ το κενό μνήμης των κατοίκων του αστικού χώρου, που δημιουργήθηκε κατά την χρονική απομάκρυνση από τον Β’ Παγκόσμιο Πόλεμο και τα δεινά που αυτός επέφερε στην κάποτε ακμάζουσα Εβραϊκή Κοινότητα έπρεπε με κάποιον τρόπο να αποκατασταθεί. Μεθοδολογικά, η εργασία βασίστηκε στην ποιοτική ερευνητική προσέγγιση και ως εργαλείο συλλογής δεδομένων επιλέχτηκε η ημιδομημένη συνέντευξη. Ως κατάλληλη μέθοδος ανάλυσης των συνεντεύξεων προκρίθηκε η ανάλυση περιεχομένου. Παράλληλα, έλαβε χώρα και επιτόπια έρευνα στα ιστορικά αρχεία του Εβραϊκού Μουσείου Ελλάδος, στα Γ.Α.Κ. Άρτας και στον Μουσικοφιλολογικό Σύλλογο Άρτας «Σκουφάς». Έτσι, διασταυρώθηκαν οι μαρτυρίες που προέκυψαν από τις συνεντεύξεις και συμπληρώθηκαν ουσιώδη στοιχεία, όπου αυτά εξέλιπαν. Χριστιανοί και Εβραίοι στην Άρτα κατόρθωσαν να αναπτύξουν κοινά πολιτισμικά στοιχεία και γνωρίσματα, να συμβιώσουν αρμονικά επί αιώνες και οι τελευταίοι να γίνουν αναπόσπαστο στοιχείο της πόλης. Η εμπορική δραστηριότητα των Εβραίων συνέβαλε στην μακροπρόθεσμη συγκέντρωση πλούτου στα χέρια της Κοινότητας, με αποτέλεσμα την κοινωνική και εκπαιδευτική της άνθιση, αλλά και τον έντονο ανταγωνισμό από ορισμένα μέλη της χριστιανικής κοινότητας. Διαφαίνεται η διαμόρφωση ενός υφέρποντος αντισημιτικού κλίματος σε μικρή μερίδα των κατοίκων, το οποίο, ωστόσο, δεν αναιρεί τις πολύ καλές και πολυεπίπεδες σχέσεις των δύο πληθυσμιακών ομάδων στο διάβα των αιώνων. Η σύλληψη και μεταφορά των μελών της Κοινότητας στο Άουσβιτς αποδεκατίζει την πλειοψηφία των Εβραίων της πόλης. Μεταπολεμικά, η Κοινότητα εμφανώς αποδυναμωμένη προοδευτικά οδηγείται στην πλήρη διάλυση. | el |
| heal.abstract | The centuries-old presence and the significance of the Jewish Community of Arta in the geographical region of Epirus played a vital role in the selection of the current thesis’ topic, aiming to detect the social, economic and educative aspects among members of the Jewish Community of Arta, during the period 1900-1959. At the same time, the topic emerged as a result of the absence of prior researches about this specific Community, while it also serves as an effort to reestablish the general memory lapse of the inhabitants of Arta, which was progressively created by the great time distance between the woes of World War 2 towards the bull Jewish Community and the present. On a methodological point of view, the research is based on the qualitative research approach and the semi-structured interview was employed as the main data collection method. Content analysis was considered to be the most appropriate methodology for analyzing the collected data. Additionally, an on-the-spot investigation took place in the historical archives of the Jewish Museum of Greece, in the General State Archives of Arta and in the archives of the Musical and Linguistic Association “Skoufas” of Arta. Therefore, by additionally using the above mentioned data collection method, a crosscheck between the data was achieved, while some missing data were surfaced. Both Christian and Jewish Communities in Arta managed to develop common cultural elements and attributes, as well as to live in harmony throughout the centuries and eventually the Jews became an integral part of the town. Jews’ commercial activity has contributed to the long-term accumulation of wealth among Jewish Community’s members, which resulted in both social and financial success, as well as to a vigorous competition on behalf of a small part of the Christian Community. At some level though, it is apparent that an underlying anti-semitism was created among a small part of the community of Arta, which, however, does not rescind the really good and multilevel relations between the two population groups the passage of time. The apprehension and transportation of the Jewish Community’s members το Auschwitz decimated the vast majority of the Community. In the post-war era, the Jewish Community was apparently effete and progressively ended up in a full dissolution. | en |
