We present our experience with small doses of cyclosporine A (CyA), 5 mg/kg/day, in patients with primary Sjogren's syndrome treated for up to 12 months. Subjective improvement in xerostomia occurred at 6 months of treatment, without objective improvement in any sicca parameters. At 12 months, xerostomia improved slightly, but minor salivary gland histology worsened. We conclude that small doses of CyA in patients with primary Sjogren's syndrome for up to 12 months are rather ineffective.en
