The interaction of Cs with WSe2(0 0 0 1) surface was studied by AES, TDS and Work Function measurements at 85 K. At low Cs coverages (theta < 0.08) Cs adsorbs as strongly ionized adatoms, whereas at higher coverages it grows in two and three dimensional clusters which become metallic at high Cs coverages (theta > 0.4). There is no evidence for Cs intercalation. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science Ltd.en
