heal.abstract | Li was adsorbed at room temperature (RT) onto UHV cleaved 2H WX2 (X = S, Se) and IT TaS2 (0001) van der Waals surfaces. On TaS2 Li is intercalated in terms of the rigid band model leading to several phase transitions of the charge density waves. On WX2 Li is intercalated for low concentrations and leads to a decomposition reaction to Li2S and W0 for high concentrations. These experimental results and those of previously studied alkali/layered chalcogenide combinations and their reactivity are discussed in terms of thermodynamic, kinetic and electronic effects. | en |
