| el |
| heal.abstract | This study examines illustrated children’s books addressed to preschool-aged children through the lens of gender. Specifically, the research focuses on how femininity is represented, the stereotypes associated with it, and the social roles connected to it, analyzing a selection of books drawn from the university library. The study explores how female characters and archetypes shift from the classic fairytale to the modern picture book, with central examples including Cinderella and Little Red Riding Hood, as well as Round Hood and Princess Trouble. The main objective of the research is to investigate how characters are portrayed in children’s literature, both through earlier theoretical and narrative approaches, and through contemporary forms of the illustrated book. The theoretical section provides a systematic presentation of the key concepts and terms related to plot analysis and literary theories, aiming to establish a clear and comprehensive analytical framework. Through theoretical analysis and research, the study seeks to highlight the significance of children’s literature as a field where social perceptions, values, and gender-related stereotypes are reflected. The examination of characters and narrative structures in illustrated books for preschool children contributes to understanding how literary representations influence the formation of children’s identities and their attitudes toward equality. From this perspective, the study emphasizes the need for critical and conscious selection of children’s books that promote acceptance, diversity, and social awareness. | en |
