| heal.abstract | Η παρούσα διπλωματική εργασία εξετάζει την έννοια του δημόσιου χώρου μέσα από μια διεπιστημονική προσέγγιση, αναδεικνύοντας τον ίδιο τον χώρο ως ένα δυναμικό και διαρκώς μεταβαλλόμενο κοινωνικό, πολιτικό και πολιτισμικό φαινόμενο. Αφετηρία της έρευνας, αποτελεί η παραδοχή ότι οι έννοιες του χώρου και του δημόσιου δεν είναι σταθερές, αλλά αναδιαμορφώνονται ιστορικά μέσα από τις κοινωνικές σχέσεις, τις πολιτικές πρακτικές και τα εκάστοτε πολιτισμικά συμφραζόμενα. Σκοπός της εργασίας, είναι η κριτική διερεύνηση του τρόπου με τον οποίο, ο δημόσιος χώρος παράγεται και νοηματοδοτείται στο σύγχρονο κοινωνικοπολιτικό πλαίσιο, καθώς και η εικαστική αναπαράσταση και απόδοση βασικών θεωρητικών εννοιών. Σε ότι αφορά την μεθοδολογία, σε μια αρχική βάση, εξετάζεται η έννοια του χώρου και η ιστορική εξέλιξή της, ενώ στη συνέχεια προσεγγίζεται ο δημόσιος χώρος μέσα από διαφορετικά διεπιστημονικά πεδία. Ιδιαίτερη έμφαση δίνεται στη σύνδεση του δημόσιου χώρου με τις δημοκρατικές πρακτικές και τις προκλήσεις που θέτει η μετανεωτερική συνθήκη. Κεντρικό θεωρητικό άξονα αποτελεί το έργο του Henri Lefebvre «The Production of Space», το οποίο συσχετίζεται με το τριαδικό σχήμα γη (land), εργασία (labour) και κεφάλαιο (capital), όπως διαμορφώθηκε από την κλασική πολιτική οικονομία και επαναπροσδιορίστηκε αργότερα από τον Karl Marx. | heal.abstract | This master's thesis examines the concept of public space through an interdisciplinary approach, highlighting space itself as a dynamic and constantly evolving social, political, and cultural phenomenon. The research is grounded in the assumption that the concepts of space and the public are not fixed entities but are historically redefined through social relations, political practices, and the prevailing cultural contexts of each era. The primary objective of this study is to critically investigate the ways in which public space is produced and assigned meaning within the contemporary socio-political framework, while also exploring the visual representation and artistic interpretation of key theoretical concepts. Regarding its methodology, initially, it examines the concept of space and its historical development, before approaching public space through various interdisciplinary fields. Particular emphasis is placed on the relationship between public space, democratic practices, and the challenges posed by the postmodern condition. The central theoretical framework of this thesis is Henri Lefebvre’s “The Production of Space”, which is examined in relation to the triadic model of land, labour, and capital, as originally formulated within classical political economy and later reconceptualized by Karl Marx. The findings of the research demonstrate that public space does not constitute a neutral or self-evident entity; rather, it is produced through social, political, and economic processes.
