Previous work on magnetic hysteresis modeling using the Preisach formalism forms the basis of this work which proposes a two-dimensional Preisach-type model for anisotropic inhomogeneous rare-earth-transition-metal magnets. The model deals with the two phases in a statistical sense and is not constrained by the specific geometry or the number of soft inclusions. The model is identified for a single-phase Sm2Fe14Ga3C2 sample and a two-phase exchange-coupled Sm2Fe14Ga3C2/alpha-Fe sample. Calculated major and first-order minor loops are compared against existing experimental data for the two samples. (C) 2000 American Institute of Physics. [S0021-8979(00)78008-X].en
