Η δια βίου εκπαίδευση ως παράμετρος της ποιότητας ζωής των ατόμων με αναπηρία (Master thesis)
The current master thesis investigates the quality of life of adults with disability and the role that lifelong learning can play. Specifically, the aim of this research is to record the quality of life and depression levels of people with disabilities, as well as the impact their social skills and perceptions on lifelong learning have on them. For research needs, a hundred and forty-three (143) people with visual, acoustic, physical and intellectual disability and forty-seven (47) people without disabilities participated in the empirical study that was conducted in 2017-2018. In addition, four research tools were used: the brief version of the questionnaire World Health Organization Quality of life (WHOQOL-BREF), the Patient Health Questionnaire 9 (PHQ-9), the Revised Self-Monitoring Scale (RSMS), and a questionnaire about the Perspectives on Lifelong Learning that was created for the needs of this study. Alongside with the depression levels and the quality of life of people with disabilities, the effects of demographic variables, such as age, income, professional and family status have also been investigated. The analysis of the results showed that the quality of life for people with disabilities is lower than that for people without disabilities in most dimensions, while people with disabilities are more likely to have elevated levels of depression. The present study also highlights the potential of lifelong learning to contribute to improving the quality of life and mental health of people with disabilities, as well as the need for further investigation into a larger sample of the Greek population in order to design appropriate practices that will lead people with disabilities to live a quality life.
