Η προσβολή του οισοφάγου σε ασθενείς με χρόνια νεφρική ανεπάρκεια (Doctoral thesis)

Δαρδαμάνης, Ματθαίος Αρ

IT IS REPORTED THAT OESOPHAGEAL MOTILITY DISORDERS, WHICH ARE SEEN IN PATIENTS WITH CHRONIC RENAL FAILURE (CRF), ARE DUE TO DEGENERATION OF NERVOUS FIBRES OF THE VAGUS NERVE, AS A PART OF THE GENERAL URAEMIC NEUROPATHY. IN 1986 BARDEET AL REFERRED ALSO TO DISORDERS IN RELAXATION PRESSURES OF THE LOWER OESOPHAGEAL SPHINCTER (LOS) IN SEVEN PATIENTS, WHO WERE CONTINUOUS AMBULATORY PERITONEAL DIALYSIS (CAPD), CAUSED BY INCREASED INTRAGASTRIC PRESSURE DUE TO THE CAPD FLUID IN THE PERITONEAL CAVITY. IN ORDER TO INVESTIGATE THE PATHOGENESIS OF OESOPHAGEAL MOTILITY DISORDERS, WE INVESTIGATED 124 PATIENTS; 66 HAD VARIOUS DEGREES OF CRF, 29 WERE ON HAEMODIALYSIS (HD), 21 ON CAPD AND 8 WERE RENAL GRAFT RECIPIENTS (RGR). OESOPHAGEAL MANOMETRY WAS PERFORMED ON ALL PATIENTS AND 62 NORMAL SUBJECTS (CONTROLS) AND A CLINICAL STUDY OF THE PERIPHERAL NERVOUS SYSTEM (PNS) PLUS INVESTIGATION OF THE AUTONOMIC NERVOUS SYSTEM (ANS) BYCARDIOVASCULAR TESTS CARRIED OUT. MANOMETRY SHOWED MOTILITY DISORDERS IN MORE THAN 50% OF THE PATIENTS. (ABSTRACT TRUNCATED).
