Παπαγεωργίου, Λέανδρος Ι.

THE PRESENT THESIS IS A CONTRIBUTION TO THE STUDY OF THE TERMINOLOGY, REFERRINGTO THE PERIODS OF THE HUMAN AGE, FROM THE BEGINNING TO THE END OF LIFE, IN ALLPERIODS OF THE GREEK LANGUAGE. THEREFORE THIS WORK IS BASICALLY AND DIACHRONICALLY CONNECTED WITH THE RELEVANT WORDS USED IN THE GREEK LANGUAGE. IT CONTAINS THE INTRODUCTION AND SIX CHAPTERS. IN THE INTRODUCTION (PAGES 1-24) WE DISCUSS THE METHODOLOGICAL PROBLEMS AND ALSO THE DEFINITION, THE MEANINGS AND THE ADJECTIVES OF THE TERM "AGE" AS WELL AS THE DIVISIONS OF AGE, WHICH WERE PROPOSED DURING THE VARIOUS PERIODS (ANCIENT, MEDIEVAL AND MODERN). THE NEXT FIVE CHAPTERSARE CORRESPONDING TO THE MAIN FIVE STAGE OF HUMAN AGE: I) CHILDHOOD (PP. 25-67), II) YOUTH-YOUNG AGE (PP. 68-97), III) AGE OF MATURITY (PP. 98-110), IV) MIDDLE-AGE (PP. 111-119), V) OLD AGE (PP. 120-153). IN EACH STAGE WE EXAMINE FIRST THE BASIC TERMS (SEE "KEYWORDS" ABOVE) TOGETHER WITH ALL RADICAL (DERIVATIVES AND COMPOUNDS) TERMS WITH THE MEANING OF AGE SUBSEQUENTLY THE OTHER SYNONYMOUS WORDS. AT THE END OF EACH CHAPTER WE SUM UP AND DRAW SOME CONCLUSIONS. IN THE SIXTH CHAPTER (PP. 154-163) WE REFER TO OTHER EXPRESSIVE MEANS (WITH NUMERALS, PRONOUNS, VERBS ETC). AT THE END OF THIS WORK WE PRESENT THE RESULTS OF OUR STUDY.
