| heal.abstract | Οι νευροεκφυλιστικές παθήσεις απαντώνται ολοένα και πιο συχνά λόγω της αύξησης του προσδόκιμου επιβίωσης αλλά και του μεγέθους του πληθυσμού. Χαρακτηριστικά παραδείγματα τέτοιων ασθενειών είναι η νόσος Αλτσχάιμερ και η νόσος Πάρκινσον. Είναι γνωστό ότι η νόσος Αλτσχάιμερ χαρακτηρίζεται από την εναπόθεση τεράστιων ινιδίων από β-πτυχωτά φύλλα του Αβ-αμυλοειδούς πεπτιδίου (αμυλοειδείς πλάκες) και τη συσσώρευση της υπερφωσφωρυλιωμένης πρωτεΐνης Tau (νευροϊνιδιακά πλέγματα) εσωτερικά των νευρώνων. Επίσης, η νόσος Πάρκινσον οφείλει την παθολογία της σε απώλεια ντοπαμινεργικών νευρώνων του μεσεγκεφάλου λόγω ανώμαλης εναπόθεσης της πρωτεΐνης α-συνουκλεΐνης (σωμάτια Lewy). Ωστόσο, η θεραπεία αυτών των παθήσεων παραμένει ένα σοβαρό ζήτημα καθώς η συμβατική φαρμακευτική αγωγή που χορηγείται μπορεί να βελτιώνει τα συμπτώματα αλλά δεν είναι ικανή να θεραπεύσει την ασθένεια. Σε αυτήν την ανασκόπηση αφού εξεταστεί η παθοφυσιολογία των δύο νευροεκφυλιστικών ασθενειών, θα συζητηθούν οι πιθανές καινοτόμες θεραπευτικές προσεγγίσεις που εφαρμόζονται στον τομέα της αναγεννητικής ιατρικής με την αξιοποίηση των βλαστοκυττάρων αλλά και οι μελλοντικές προοπτικές που προκύπτουν από αυτό τον ταχύτατα αναδυόμενο τομέα. | el |
| heal.abstract | Neurodegenerative diseases are more and more common due to the increase in life expectancy but also in size population. Typical examples of such diseases are Alzheimer's disease (AD) and Parkinson's disease (PD). Alzheimer's disease is known to be characterized by the deposition of enormous fibrils of beta-amyloid peptide (Αβ- amyloid plaques) and the accumulation of the hyperphosphorylated Tau protein (neurofibrillary tangles-NFT) inside the neurons. Also, the pathogenesis of Parkinson's disease is characterized by the loss of midbrain dopaminergic neurons due to abnormal deposition of the α-synuclein protein (Lewy bodies). However, the treatment of these conditions remains a serious issue as the conventional medication administered can ameliorate the symptoms but is not capable of curing the disease. In this review, after examining the pathophysiology of two neurodegenerative diseases, we will discuss the possible innovative therapeutic approaches applied in the field of regenerative medicine with the use of stem cells and the future prospects arising from this rapidly emerging field. | en |
