Οι εκπαιδευτικές ανάγκες των παιδιών - προσφύγων στην Ήπειρο (Master thesis)
The present thesis constitutes a survey about the children - refugees’ educational needs in Epirus. Drawing upon our educational experience, as it has developed within the context of the non-formal programme of the University of Ioannina which aims at refugees, we made an effort to feature these needs and record the basic educational approaches which correspond to them as well as the limitations which define the volatile condition of refugee populations in Greece and, especially, in Epirus. Trough the participant observation, which lasted eleven months in a sample of 43 children - refugees 6-12 years old -who reside in two refugee camps (Perama and Agia Eleni)- we collected data about the specific population’s educational needs and we present them in combination with our main choices for their fulfillment. The axes in which our results are organized are the supply of positive educational climate and safety, the teaching of Greek as second language, the identity reinforcement and the enhancement of social skills of these students.
