Σαμλίδου, Ελευθερία

This paper explores the impact of trust and institutions on innovation and entrepreneurship. Occasionally, innovation is defined as creating new products and services or improving the use of existing products and services. Innovation and entrepreneurship are positively influenced by the quality of institutional framework and trust. Also, because businesses and individuals work together to achieve common goals, trust is a key factor to maintain good co-operation. The results of this work showed an important relationship between social trust and innovation and entrepreneurship. On the contrary, trust in the government shows that it does not affect the two above variables. In these results, it is likely that the diversity of the sample plays an important role as it is composed of countries with different institutional frameworks and different economic development. Other important factors influencing the variables examined are the economic freedom of countries and education.
