heal.abstractΜε την ολοκλήρωση της δεκαετίας 2005-2014, την οποία τα Ηνωμένα Έθνη είχαν ορίσει ως δεκαετία της Εκπαίδευσης για την Αειφόρο Ανάπτυξη, το διεθνές ερευνητικό ενδιαφέρον εστιάζει στον βαθμό ανταπόκρισης της Τριτοβάθμιας Εκπαίδευσης στη βάση των όσων ορίζουν οι σχετικές διακηρύξεις (Talloires Declaration, HESI κ.ά.). Σκοπός της παρούσας έρευνας είναι να μελετήσει κατά πόσο τα ελληνικά πανεπιστήμια έχουν υιοθετήσει στρατηγικές και πρωτοβουλίες αειφορίας. Για τον σκοπό αυτό διενεργήθηκε μια προκαταρκτική έρευνα που περιελάμβανε την ανάλυση περιεχομένου των ιστοσελίδων όλων των ελληνικών πανεπιστημίων, ή οποία συμπληρώθηκε από τη συστηματική σύνθετη αναζήτηση όρων και την κατάρτιση πρωτοκόλλων καταγραφής. Βασικούς άξονες της έρευνας αποτέλεσαν οι διαστάσεις του Αειφόρου Πανεπιστημίου, όπως αυτές προσδιορίζονται από τη διεθνή βιβλιογραφία. Η έρευνα καταλήγει στη διαπίστωση ότι παρόλο που καταγράφονται ενδιαφέρουσες μεμονωμένες πρακτικές, λίγα ελληνικά πανεπιστήμια έχουν δρομολογήσει συστηματικές και συντονισμένες πρωτοβουλίες προς την κατεύθυνση της αειφορίας σε επίπεδο ιδρύματος. Οι κυριότερες πρωτοβουλίες που εντοπίστηκαν στην παρούσα έρευνα, επικεντρώνονται στη μείωση του οικολογικού αποτυπώματος των πανεπιστημίων, μέσω παρεμβάσεων στις δομές και λειτουργίες τους, ενώ με δυσκολία ανιχνεύονται συστηματικές παρεμβάσεις στα προγράμματα σπουδών και στην ανάπτυξη συνεργασιών με τις τοπικές κοινότητες για την προώθηση αειφόρων πρακτικών. Επιπλέον, υλοποιήθηκε μια μελέτη περίπτωσης στο Πανεπιστημίου Ιωαννίνων, σε μια προσπάθεια να σχηματοποιηθούν σε επίπεδο ιδρύματος τα πρώτα συμπεράσματα για τις προσπάθειες που γίνονται προς την κατεύθυνση της Αειφορίας στο σύγχρονο ελληνικό πανεπιστήμιο.el
heal.abstractLeaving the UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development - ESD (2005-2014), the international research community is already studying the response of higher education to Sustainable Development as defined by relevant declarations (Talloires Declaration, HESI etc.). Several approaches, guidelines and tools have been proposed to undertake initiatives and assess the progress of universities that are willing to achieve sustainability goals. The purpose of this study is to examine whether the Greek universities have adopted strategies and initiatives towards sustainability according to these declarations as well as the extent of achievement. For this purpose, we conducted a preliminary investigation on the websites of the Greek universities as well as a systematic, specific web search, using searching machines, aiming to identify existing structures and practices, initiatives and other actions in the context of Sustainability in Higher Education. Main research lines are the dimensions of the Sustainable University, as defined by international declarations: written statements, curricula, research, campus function, students’ life, outreach and partnerships etc. This study shows that few Greek Universities have launched systematic initiatives. These initiatives focus on reducing their ecological footprint, through interventions on the structures and functions. Systematic interventions in curricula and development of partnership with local communities in order to promote sustainable practices are hardly detected. Finally, the case study of Ioannina was made as an attempt to draw the first conclusions about the implementation of sustainability practices in an Greek higher education institute.en
