| heal.abstract | Σκοπός της παρούσας διπλωματικής εργασίας είναι να εξετάσει τη σχέση των τοπικών κοινοτήτων της κοιλάδας της Δωδώνης με το αρχαίο παρελθόν, τα υλικά κατάλοιπα και το τοπίο που τα περιβάλλει. Το επίκεντρο της έρευνας είναι ο αρχαιολογικός χώρος της Δωδώνης και το πλήθος τρόπων με τους οποίους τα μνημεία του διαπλέκονται με τη ζωή των ανθρώπων και την κατανόηση του περιβάλλοντος χώρου. Η ανθρωπολογική προσέγγιση των μνημείων και του τοπίου της Δωδώνης εντάσσεται σε ένα ευρύ διεπιστημονικό πλαίσιο, όπου συναντώνται η ανθρωπολογία, η αρχαιολογία, η ιστορία και η κοινωνική γεωγραφία με τις σπουδές του υλικού πολιτισμού και της πολιτιστικής κληρονομιάς. Το εθνογραφικό και ιστορικό υλικό που προέκυψαν, τόσο μέσα από την επιτόπια έρευνα στην περιοχή όσο και από την μελέτη του διοικητικού αρχείου της Εφορείας Αρχαιοτήτων Ιωαννίνων και του τοπικού Τύπου, αναλύονται υπό το πρίσμα των παραπάνω γνωστικών κλάδων. Η ανάλυση του υλικού επικεντρώνεται κυρίως σε τρία ζητήματα που θεωρώ ότι ξεχωρίζουν την Δωδώνη από άλλες περιπτώσεις αρχαιολογικών χώρων και τοπικών κοινοτήτων στην Ελλάδα: α. η ιδιότητα του «οικοδεσπότη», η οποία έχει εγγραφεί στη συλλογική συνείδηση ως χαρακτηριστικό της τοπικής ταυτότητας μέσα από την πολυετή διοργάνωση του Φεστιβάλ Δωδώνης, β. οι διαφορετικές ιεραρχήσεις μεταξύ των μνημείων του αρχαιολογικού χώρου από τους παράγοντες που εμπλέκονται στη νοηματοδότησή τους και γ. η κατασκευή του «ιερού ηχοτοπίου» της κοιλάδας και η διεκδίκηση του ως διατηρητέου μνημείου. | el |
| heal.abstract | This thesis, entitled “Dodona: An Archaeological Ethnography”, aims at investigating the relationship established between the local communities of the valley of Dodona, “their” ancient past, its material evidences and the surrounding landscape. More particularly my research focuses on the archaeological site of Dodona and the manifold ways in which its monuments are implicating in the daily life of the people that live around them and define their perception of the landscape. The interdisciplinary field of archaeological ethnography, where archeology meets anthropology as well as social geography, material culture and cultural heritage studies provided the theoretical background of the analysis of the ethnographic material. This material, along with the archival research outcomes were gathered through typical anthropological and historical research methods. This archaeological ethnography of Dodona reveals three main issues that distinguish Dodona from other cases of archaeological sites and adjacent villages. The local communities of the valley are presented here as the “host community” of the “Festival of Dodona” organized there for forty years until 1999. This characteristic was inscribed in their local identity and the way they perceive themselves. Two different and contradictory rankings of the monuments of the site appear to be another exceptional characteristic of the case of Dodona. The ancient theater stands as the most significant monument of the valley for the local communities, while on the part of the academic archaeology the oracle (i.e. “Iera Oikia”) signifies the uniqueness of Dodona. Drawing from the archaeological interpretation of the oracle, local communities make sense of the landscape as a “Sacred Soundscape” which have been historicized through institutional archaeology and adopted by modern Dodoneans. | en |
